winbindd: Exceeding 200 client connections, no idle connection found
Hello,
Can someone tell me how to resolve the "winbindd: Exceeding 200 client
connections, no idle connection found" error in my log.winbind? I see
tons of them on a regular basis.

asterisk guru needed for job in Chicago area
Hello, I run a small network consulting company in the Chicago area and
I have a client who is interested in doing an asterisk based VOIP

out the project alone so I am looking for an asterisk guru to lead the
project. I'm interested in someone from the Chicago or northwest Indiana

samba as PDC in FreeBSD
Hello all, I've set up samba as a PDC in FreeBSD 5.1-release. I seemed to
have no problems joining my computer to the domain as it said "Welcome to
the domain" but when I try and log in it says it can't contact the domain
controller or the domain account doesn't exist. Can anyone offer any help on
how to fix this?
Here is my smb.conf.
Kind regards,

upgraded to samba-3.0.23c = continous password prompts on shares
Since upgrading to samba 3.0.23c when I try and access the samba shares
it continually prompts me for a username and password. The samba server
has been joined to a win2k3 domain and should be allowing access based
on the windows domain accounts like it used to be doing, but that is no
longer working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

map user homes to a windows share
Hello everyone,
I've been tasked with setting up several computer labs in a school with
Ubuntu workstations. I have successfully joined those workstations to
the windows domain and set it up so they authenticate to the windows
domain as well. My problem is that I need to figure out how to have each
user's home folder on the Ubuntu boxes map to the users home folder on
the windows

file transfer problem
Hello,
I'm having a problem copying large amounts of data from our Win2k3
server to a samba share on the samba server. I've turned debugging on in
the smb.conf file all the way up to level 10 and I still do not see what
is causing my file transfers to abort. It consistently aborts copying
files as small as 10 gigs even. I've read through the performance tuning
section in the

winbind and white spaces on user/group names
Hi Samba Folks,
we use Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Samba 4.3.11 (from distribution). Our ADS
is Windows 2008 R2. We want to use Linux as a squid proxy with domain
auth (SSO).
Problem is, that most of the usernames have a white space and it seems
that winbind wont handle it.
I get this on my cache log with /usr/lib/squid/ext_wbinfo_group_acl
(wbinfo_group.pl) script.
Got max Internet-Access from

Getting user list for each group
I use Winbind auth for squid-dansguardian ntlm authentication purpose.
I need matching users/group for filtering in squid/dansguardian.
getent group is used for finding users for groups except for group Domain Users.
getent passwd is used for finding all users and specifically users for
group Domain Users (over group ID).
This requires enumeration option(winbind enum users, winbind enum
groups)

getent group fails
Hi,
Well, I'll try to start at what I think the root of my problems are.
When I do a getent group, I only get a list of the BUILTIN groups.
BUILTIN+administrators
BUILTIN+users
But if I do a wbinfo -g, all the AD groups show up.
This alone is not the overall problem, but it is creating a problem
because I need getent to return the groups for logging different AD
groups to different log

[OT?] passing group name with spaces to ntlm_auth...
I've not clear if is a squid or a samba/ntlm_auth trouble... indeed...
In Squid i've added:
auth_param ntlm program /usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp --domain=LNFFVG --require-membership-of='LNFFVG\Domain Users'
auth_param ntlm children 5
but in 'cache.log' i got:
Winbindd lookupname failed to resolve 'LNFFVG\Domain into a SID!

FreeBSD mknod errors
Hi all, I ran across a few threads on google regarding FreeBSD's rsync mknod
problem but I didn't find any good fix. I was wondering if anyone knows more
about this and a good fix. Here's an example of the output.

Multiple Group checking using ntlm_auth
Hi,
We are running Squid version: 2.5.STABLE13 and Samba version: Version
3.0.21b
We have it setup to use NTLM to check that the user belongs to a group
within the domain. The need has arrisen to be able to support multiple
groups. Is this possible?
Our squid.conf section:
auth_param ntlm program /ntlm_auth.sh ntlmssp
auth_param ntlm max_challenge_reuses 0

Samba PDC & Squid NTLM Auth - Same machine
Hi Guys!
Probably this is not the best place to ask, I'll try anyway... =)
I've been trying to configure a Samba PDC and a Squid Porxy server
with NTLM auth on the same machine but NTML_AUTH keeps complaining
about: NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE.... I have others machines running
Squid and Authenticating against a Samba Server but on different
machines, this is the first time a try both on

getent group not listing domain groups / wbinfo -r not working
I know, I know, this again :)
The company I work for would like to use squid for proxy authentication
purposes using NTLM, using a Windows 2008 R2 server as a DC. I've
managed to setup samba/winbind to use ads and successfully joined the
domain. Configured nsswitch.conf to lookup winbind entities (however I
didn't touch PAM configuration, as I don't actually want the users to be

samba group rights problem (Domain Admins not working)
Hi list,
after upgrading our ldap server, the Domain Admins group doesn't work
anymore.
Members of the domain admins group don't have any special rights on the
workstations (for example, they cannot even change the date of a machine in
the
domain anymore).
When I lookup the group members I get:

winbind - wbinfo problem - SOLVED
Hi John,
The same smb and winbind configuration ( same SUSE box ) works good other
Windows AD servers.
"#wbinfo -u" and "#wbinfo -g" returns the users and groups respectively.
Thanks for your great help !!!
what is the difference between "#net rpc" and "#net ads" ?..if you have
time, give some explanation..

[Fwd: [squid-users] NTLM Authentication Problem]
I submited this to the Squid list, but I got no response which I assume
means that no one has any suggestions. Can anyone give me a clue as to
what I have configured incorrectly. Thanks.

Urgent Samba / Squid NTLM Auth Problems
Hi,
We are having problems setting up a squid cache server to use NTLMv2
authentication to authenticate users against AD.
We have narrowed the problems down to being a problem between samba and
squid when using NTLMv2. It constantly moans about the password being wrong
when using squid, but doing a direct samba auth works fine. We have
(believedly) narrowed it down to this: the domain requires

wbinfo not looking up groups in mixed MS NT/2k AD
Hello,
I'm having trouble when I try do get a group SID from my domain, the
user lookup and authentication is working fine.
Actually what I'm trying to do is to authenticate squid against MS AD
using winbind. I need to restrict access by group, so I'm using
wbinfo_group.pl to do it.
The machine has been built to be a proxy server only.
I'm using Suse Linux 9.3 Professional
