Solaris Samba 3.5.8 [homes] configuration - intermittent connection failures
Our Solaris 5.10 was running Samba 3.0 with ADS security against winbind and krb5.conf, and all users were able to access it from any Windows system. Following the upgrade to a new AD server running 2008 RC2, we had to upgrade samba on most Unix systems. On Solaris, the new version was 3.5.8 from Sun. I found more config options were required to get the [homes] section to succeed, although I

net command in sernet -samba 3.4 for RHEL
After upgrading a test machine to Sernet's 3.4 package, it looks like the "net" command is gone. This was definitely there in the redhat-supplied 3.0 build and I thought it was there in sernet's 3.3 build too. I installed all the rpm's - samba3-client, samba3-utils, samba3-cifsmount.... am I missing something? -- Adam Cohen / IT Manager Energy Biosciences Institute /

Failed join operations
I'm running a PDC on Samba 3.60. Just freshly upgraded it from Samba 3.028a with the purpose of supporting Windows 7. However though all the existing users and computers are running fine, I'm stumped trying to join a new Windows 7 machine to it. I have applied the DomainCompatibility registry fix. When I try to join a Windows 7 workstation I will get this message : The join operation

Re: Reg: net rpc rights grant command is not working on samba-3.0.10
Hi, please direct general questions to the samba mailing list or (if it is a development / technical question) to the samba-technical mailing list. You need to provide more information. your samba configuration, the precise output of the net command, a level 10 log of the net command... You might also consider upgrading your samba version. 3.0.10 is ancient. Cheers - Michael Kumar Kalisamy

The Recycled PIDs Fix
** Low Priority ** Hi Volker, This is regarding your fix on recycled PIDs. I am an NCP developer from Novell and we use libsmbsharemodes library from Samba for Cross Protocols Locks between NCP, Samba and others. I have few queries regarding your fix. In your fix, you have added a new field called 'unique_id' in the server_id structure and we need to pass this in our call to samba

Make Test on Samba 3.2.0
With Samba 3.0.x, I would: 1. configure 2. make 3. make test 4. make install (if all went well) When I do a 'make test' with Samba 3.2.0, though, I eventually run into problems like this: RUNNING TESTS testparm_s3 Testing netbios name (0) TEST OUTPUT: Load smb config files from /home/david/build/samba-3.2.0/source/st/lib/smb.conf.tmp params.c:Parameter() - Ignoring badly formed line in

_Truly_ disabling trusted domains?
Is there a way to completely disable trusted domains in samba/winbind? Some of the trusted domains are inaccessible to the client machines, which causes winbind not to work due to all the timeouts/errors. I tried setting "allow trusted domains = no", but when looking at the debug logs it's obvious that winbind is still trying to look them up. It appears that winbind doesn't

Correct remedy for winbindd sulking on 3.0.30?
Greetings, I have recently upgraded from 3.0.28a to 3.0.30 on a couple of FreeBSD 7.0 servers: one in a Windows 2000 Active Directory environment, and the other in a Windows 2003 Active Directory environment, as member servers. Everything works for a while and then winbindd goes into sulking mode. Re-starting fixes everythng for a little while. I'm guessing I've hit the winbindd bug

NT_STATUS_NO_MEMORY when browsing file server on Belkin modem
Hello, Can someone help me to track down the source of this problem? I'm trying to access a file server running on a Belkin modem with an attached USB drive. Judging my the quality of the firmware on the device, I'd say there's a good chance of it being buggy. But it works well enough on a Windows machine, even one running inside Virtualbox under Linux. I therefore see no reason

Sharing a caching NFS mount with samba?
I am trying to set up a caching link between two points, that can be shared with windows and *nix. In both locations, I have linux-based servers with data, which have caching NFS mounts (that is, mount -t nfs -o fsc, with cachefilesd). These mounts are working correctly and I have tested the cache locally to much success. What I have not been able to get working is sharing those mounts with
