HalfLife on latest CVS
Whilst bored I purchased HalfLife for Windows, having read people mention on Slashdot that it runs on Wine. I run Debian (woody) on an AMD Athlon 1.4GHz machine with 1Gb RAM as my desktop. It currently has a Voodoo3 video card, though I have a dual head Radeon which I'm going to use once I get a monitor that is compatible (my current monitor has a very wavy display with that card). I

virtlockd, init script and kill signals
Hi, I've read in the documentation that virtlockd uses SIGUSR1 to dump its state and then re-execs itself. Now I tried it and this seems to fail because virtlockd is being launched without a full path (when using the init script), thus re-exec fails with the error: error : virLockDaemonPreExecRestart:1092 : Unable to restart self: No such file or directory Changing in the init script

ntlm_auth and high load fault
Hi, I've noticed that Windows Updates, just won't do NTLM auth, so i've just added a no_auth exception for windows update sites. How many children are you starting. I'm serving +700 users with just one squid with 30 ntlm_auth processes on a PII/800 MHZ/256 MB Ram with no problems wathsoever. sanlockd, virtlock and GFS2
Hi, I'm trying to put in place a KVM cluster (using clvm and gfs2), but I'm running into some issues with either sanlock or virtlockd. All virtual machines are handled via the cluster (in /etc/cluser/cluster.conf) but I want some kind of locking to be in place as extra security measurement. Sanlock ======= At first I tried sanlock, but it seems if one node goes down unexpectedly,

Right way to do SAN-based shared storage?
I'm trying to set up SAN-based shared storage in KVM, key word being "shared" across multiple KVM servers for a) live migration and b) clustering purposes. But it's surprisingly sparsely documented. For starters, what type of pool should I be using?

Logon script
Hello, I am having a little problem with executing logon scripts on Win95 clients, logging into Samba Netlogon service. When a user logges in, a MS-DOS prompt shows up and quicky disappears. Then I get "Please Wait While your logon script executes". It hangs at that point. A user has to hit cancel to start his win95 session. I have done the logon script in MS-DOS editor. I have the

Urgent Samba / Squid NTLM Auth Problems
Hi, We are having problems setting up a squid cache server to use NTLMv2 authentication to authenticate users against AD. We have narrowed the problems down to being a problem between samba and squid when using NTLMv2. It constantly moans about the password being wrong when using squid, but doing a direct samba auth works fine. We have (believedly) narrowed it down to this: the domain requires

[OT?] passing group name with spaces to ntlm_auth...
I've not clear if is a squid or a samba/ntlm_auth trouble... indeed... In Squid i've added: auth_param ntlm program /usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp --domain=LNFFVG --require-membership-of='LNFFVG\Domain Users' auth_param ntlm children 5 but in 'cache.log' i got: Winbindd lookupname failed to resolve 'LNFFVG\Domain into a SID! Squid/ntlm_auth issues with two user accounts (all other accounts on the domain work).
Hi all, I have just installed and configured a squid setup authenticating against Active Directory using kerberos tickets and have achieved the holy-grail of IT - Single Sign On! The problem is that I have two users for whom is does not work. The ntlm_auth logs show that for users that are properly authenticated against squid we get the following (Usernames/Domains/Hosts have been changed for

Using ntlm_auth with a non-Squid application
Hello my goal is to write an authentication module for the Symfony php framework, which would provide SSO capabilities to browsers that are logged in an MS AD domain and support the NTLMv2 protocol. Ideally this module would run on linux servers, and be portable, i.e. require as few non-php tools and network/firewall settings as possible (that's why I eschewed the existing Apache modules

using winbind causes high load on the pdc
Hi people: I have a winbind 3.2.5 running on a box to authenticate users in my squid. My PDC is a samba 3.0.24 and it stores users on ldap. I have aprox 500 users and when they all use the squid my winbind generates a lot of traffic to my pdc box causing high load on the smb process that talks to the winbind... killing the performance of the squid. Is there anyway to reduce this traffic? Why

Daily changetrustpw breaks authentication
Samba 3.0.21b The Samba docs indicate [0] we should be running changetrustpw [1] at some point (cron.daily) to update a machines trust account. However, I've seen multiple instances with 2 seperate AD environments where this breaks our ability to enumerate/authenticate with the domain. In both instances, we see something similar to the following in the winbind logs: (ntlm_auth):

samba4 and squid with NTLM auth
Hi. Samba-4.0.7 FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT Besides serving files I'm using Samba to authenticate users in the Windows AD with squid. After having issues with samba 3.6.16 I decided to see if samba4 will fit me more. I was surprised, but I found that Samba 4 is fully functional in my environment and is nearly production-ready. After that I tried to setup squid to use samba for NTLM authentication.
