Hi,
Im new to Ruby on Rails, it seems to be really powerfull.
I am running Apache 1.3.x and I dont know how to set it up to work with

mixing ext3 and reiserfs on slackware 10
Will I run into any problems mixing ReiserFS and ext3
on my slackware linux box? I'm using ReiserFS and
LVM on the current version, thinking of mixing it up
a bit with slackware 10, again with LVM.
Thanks for any advice!

not sure how to setup ext3 on a slackware 7.1 system
Hi all,
On my slackware 7.1 system, in rc.S fsck is started.
In fstab there's the following line:
/dev/hda2 / ext3 defaults,noatime 1 1
from the readme I figured that I should put the line
append="rw rootflags=journal=102"
in lilo.conf
The system boots up, but I get the error message that the
root partition is already rw.
Should I just skip the filesystem

bug in su (Slackware 3.4)
If sulog file logging is enabled in /etc/login.defs (shadowing installed!)
and su has never been used, a user can set his umask to 0 and then run su.
/var/log/sulog will then be created mode 666, which means user can use su
to try lots of passwords and then, when done, do something like
cat /dev/null > /var/log/sulog
and clear out the logfile.
Same goes for sudo.
Note: everything will still be

Slackware Wine Warcraft 3
Hello again,
Last time on Gentoo I fixed this error, but it's not entirely 100% the same error message so I'm a bit confused. As stated in the title, this time it's on Slackware and I've installed nVidia's graphics drivers from nvidia's official website.
I've installed the official no-cd patches (given by the game producers themselves, not some illegal patch) and have

swat, samba2.0.6, slackware
Hi,
I have installed SAMBA 2.0.6 on Slackware 7.0.After minor troubles with
differences of SAMBA 2.0.5a package the SAMBA itself seems to work O.K. But
SWAT doesn't work at all. After authentication in web browser IE5.0 I only
get an error message. As to /etc/inetd.conf I have changed the line for
swat properly.
Can someone help me ?

Dom0 problems on Slackware 10.2
I''m running Xen 3.0.2 on a system that''s based on Slackware 10.2 as Dom0. DomU is also slackware 10.2. Am using the kernel that came with 3.0.2 - no custom config, just a "make world", etc.. Did have to add grub of course.
When I start up xend, I get the following on /var/adm/messages:
Apr 23 21:04:11 rc25 kernel: Bridge firewalling registered
Apr 23 21:04:11 rc25

Asterisk 1.8 and 1.4 SlackBuilds for Slackware Linux
Hello List,
I've been working with a set of SlackBuilds that might be helpful for
people that want to install Asterisk 1.4/1.8 from source, but,
maintaining the possibility to easily (painlessly)
update/upgrade/uninstall/patch/recompile Asterisk.
The Scripts are located here:
https://bitbucket.org/jespinal/slackbuilds/overview
You just need to do:
$ hg clone

Installation error on old Slackware version 10.2
Not very important but installation of shorewall 4.4.14 (and probably
other versions) on a old Slackware system (10.2) fails:
install -T -o root -g root -m 0755 shorewall /sbin/shorewall
ERROR: Failed to install -T -o root -g root -m 0755 shorewall
/sbin/shorewall
Setting T="" instead of T="-T" in install.sh solves the problem but it
is not a solution.
