winxp + sp3 = samba-shared printer hangs the system
hi, since I upgraded some winxp-pro sp2 client to sp3, my samba-shared printers are no-longer usable :-/ With sp3, if I run notepad and choose the men? File-Print, the "print" window hangs and does not show any printer for about 1 minute! The same thing happens when I click on the men? Start-settings-Printer and faxes. With sp2, everything works correctly and I can browse all my

adding printers from netlogon script
While this doesn't relate specifically to Samba, I need to do this in a netlogon .bat file in a Samba domain. In my network, I have a printer hooked to a JetDirect so that it is a TCP/IP printer. Is there a way I can automatically have this printer mapped/added when the user is logged on? -- Andrew Gaffney

how do you manage printers on workstations?
How do you manage printers on Windows workstations? What I mean, suppose you have many classrooms, different printers (which sometimes change) in these classroms - how do you manage which workstation (or a group of them) will use which printer? So far I've been using WPKG for that - as I described here: http://wpkg.org/wiki/index.php/Printer_configuration But somehow I feel it

adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the printer without installing. I know that it's

Multiple Login scripts
Hi all, Just a quick question about login scripts for a large number of users who change rooms a lot. I have several rooms each with a printer, and nearly a thousand users divided into two main groups - pupils and teachers who change rooms on a routine basis. Is it possible to set up multiple login scripts that would be executed in sequence i.e. run by user is %u, and machine is %m is it

Local device name already in use
I'm seeing errors accessing samba shares accompanied by the message "The local device name is already in use" fairly frequently on several machines around our building. It doesn't seem to happen with NT shares. Our NT logon script executes a 'net use' command to map the Samba share as a network drive; is this just a symptom of a share already being manually mapped on

PrintUIEntry for NT4?
For Win2K, I've been using RunDLL32 printui.dll, printuientry to do a bunch of different printer related stuff (most notably, mapping printers and setting the default). Looks like NT4 doesn't have the same stuff. Is there anything classier I can use than NET USE under NT4 (without downloading something like Kixstart)? Thanks for your help. ---- _ _ _ _ ___ _ _ _ |Y#| | | |\/| |

Samba-Cups: all works except browsing when printer is not defined in smb.conf
Cups 1.2.7 Debian Etch with Samba 3.0.24 Clients: WinXP SP3 (with Firewall completely off for testing) When I define a printer specifically in smb.conf, they show up as shared printers in WinXP. But when I follow the normal way (see below) to load all from cups they don't. I followed mainly the latest SAMBA-HOWTO (chapter 21-22) The only error I see in log.smbd when accessing the

flash player on seamonkey 1.0.9 x86_64 centos 4.5
I downoaded flash9 for linux. Installed it: ls /usr/lib64/mozilla-seamonkey-1.0.9/plugins/ flashplayer.xpt libflashplayer.so libnullplugin.so However seamonkey is not doing flash yet. Does it not work in 64 bit? Did I miss something? Anyone else have flash going on amd64? I thought you put the files in the above directory and restart. Didn't work for me. Jerry

serial port problems: micro flashing
I am new to this mailing list. I apologize if any needed information is missing. I know this is a bit much to ask of wine's current serial port implementation, I am hoping someone has maybe figured this out already? Or can help me further the debugging process, I'd rather be part of the solution then simply another complaint about wine's serial port. ***** problem description

script to automatically install printers to win clients?
Hi I have a samba server 3.0.0-15 acting as a PDC on a Windows domain (98, XP and 2000). Is there a way to automatically install printers to windows clients when users log in? Maybe by running a logon script... Thank you in advance. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo! HotJobs

[LLVMdev] Make install drops 64-bit LLVM in Windows x86 program folder
Hi, I just did a "make install" on Win7x64 using Mingw64 and it dropped off the files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\LLVM". That's almost right, but nicer would be if the 64-bit build was dropped off in "C:\Program Files\LLVM". I am fairly confident that it is me who is doing something wrong because I simply do this: (retrieve trunk version of LLVM, Clang,

Administrator-installed printers unavailable to regular users
Hi all, I'm having a very strange problem with printers under 3.0.10, running on an up to date Gentoo 2005.0 box. Essentially, if I install a Samba-networked printer on one of our NT workstations as "administrator", it doesn't show up for all the other users of that particular machine. It's as if they don't have any printers installed. What's more, none of these
