winbind,ads, win2k3, trusted domains, user mapping
I have been ready everything I can regarding this setup but am having a
problem that I am unsure of.
I am unable to authenticate any user despite the following commands working:
%> getent passwd <username>
%> wbinfo -u
%> wbinfo -g
With the getent passwd I am able to see all of my UID/GID being mapped
via winbdind to the rid of the domain user account.
This command fails:

OU vs. Default CN?
I am having a hard time getting any information from this list about the
default OU's used when running the net ads join command.
After mapping to the wrong OU in Active Directory for a Samba Domain
Member Server (ou=wrong_container,dc=server,dc=com) I cannot change this
back to the default (cn=users,dc=server,dc=com). Any help is
appreciated and here is the result of net ads dn command:

Re: Changing OU to default?
I appreciate the assistance. I am running SuSE 9.3 with the samba and
winbind packages (latest releases). I have configured the krb5.conf to
correspond including the enc types. Here is that output:

clockskew = 300
default_tgs_enctypes = rc4-hmac des-cbc-md5
default_tkt_enctypes = rc4-hmac des-cbc-md5

AD Authentication help please?
I am having a problem which with much help from this list I have gotten
90% complete. I am attempting to create a samba server which will
authenticate users as a Domain member server using active directory.
The question I have is how can I map a specific container which is not
an OU but a CN in the active directory?
Any help is appreciated.

AD Question
I have a question regarding joining a Samba 3 machine to a Windows 2000
Domain using ADS authentication.
I have been able to join the machine to the domain, enumerate users with
getent and wbinfo -u. The problem I am having is with a Windows 2000
default domain setup an AD object is created:
CN=Users,DC=Domain,DC=Com
Generally all users created belong in this container. I am able to

First use of cd ~user fails on systems using winbind
Hi.
I'm running the latest Samba 4.18 on our dc (Linux - Rocky 8.8), and the
clients are running the latest 4.17 (Linux - Rocky 8.8) to be upgraded
to 4.18 soon.
I've noticed an issue for awhile that is really quite strange and wonder
if anyone has any thoughts on this.
Samba/Kerberos auth has been setup and working for quite a long time,
and I don't think the configuration of

Not sure if it matters but here is the AD object of a user with no issues:
[root at GJSERVER ~]# ldbsearch -H /var/lib/samba/private/sam.ldb -b
'ou=office,dc=samdom,dc=example,dc=ch' -s sub

Avoiding logging password when dict lookup fails
I've made a unix-socket auth setup, by looking at the examples here:
https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/authentication/dict/#complete-example-for-authenticating-via-a-unix-socket
I need to ship the plain password to the socket as well, so i have simply
added %w to the lookup key, like so:
key = passdb/U=%u P=%w
My problem is, that if the socket connection is down for whatever

samba AD problem after re-join domain
I've been working on a Samba AD setup with a bunch of test machines -
the one DC, and a bunch of clients.? Last night, I ended up switching
the name of the test machines temporarily (except the DC), and
re-joining the domain (that's for another e-mail later).? When things
didn't work the way I had planned,? I switched the hostnames back, and
re-joined the domain today on all the
