2nd smb server
Hi, i have already search for three days now but i can't find any tips. I am running a Samba PDC based on smb 3.0.23. No i want to integrate a second samba server which should serve serveral client, just to decrease the load on the pdc. This should not be a BDC, just a domain member. For user management i use openLDAP. Well, what do i need for this scenario? Do I need winbind or can i just

Tuning the performance of Samba over LAN network to improve I/O performance
Hello friends, I am trying to test NAS I/O performance over a network and trying to see the numbers for write and read speed. I have successfully configured and ran a lot of tests. However the numbers have not increased, I have reached a bottleneck. I tried playing around with the smb.conf file including all possible variations like, socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=(tried values like

error: failed reading from tcp: Connection reset by peer
All, I see the following message fairly frequently in our nsd.log files: error: failed reading from tcp: Connection reset by peer A quick grep through the source code reveals that this log message comes from server.c, and can come pretty much at any time during a TCP query. Since: - This condition occurs during normal operation, and - There is nothing a server operator can do about it. I

Asterisk and Linejacks
I found a message from you to the asterisk users mailing list from 2001. I was wondering if you got (or still have) an asterisk system working with the linejack? If so, would you be willing to assist me with mine? I seem to have things working, and * says that caller ID is coming in, but I can't get * to actually answer the call. Thanks, Greg -- NetIO.org

Decent Performance
Hi all, I am trying to get some decent speed out of a vanilla Debian (Proxmox) box and am running out of ideas. Basically I can exchange data at 110MB/sec (raw, nfs, ftp) but not with Samba shares. I tried almost every samba tuning tip I could find to no avail. The only optimisation left to smb.conf at the moment is debug level = 0. As one can see the robocopy throughput is merely half of what

Incorrect client netbios name in %m
I have a client (Fedora 19) and a server (Fedora 14/Samba 3.5.11) which works fine. I'm now setting up a new server (Fedora 20/Samba 4.1.3) with more or less the same smb.conf 1. Can't authenticate any more, KVNO mismatch? (alpha 17-19)
Hi all, we've been running a Samba4 domain with alpha17 for a few months now without any problems. However, a few days ago, something happened and now winbind can't authenticate against the domain any more. Strangely, logging into (at least one) Windows box still works, even with a user that was never used on this particular box before, and therefore can't have any cached

Sysvol: users - access denied
Hello, I have a question regarding to access permissions. Recently I have upgraded my DC from version 41.12 to 4.1.21. This weekend I have decided to upgrade to 4.3.3. I have noticed that my users weren't able to access the sysvol share after the upgraded to 4.3.3. As a test I have created a new user "test" and I was able to open the sysvol share without any issues. Next I have

AD on 2003R2 NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
Dear Help, We are in the process of setting up a new domain using Active Directory on Windows Server 2003R2. One of our goals was to use Active Directory for authentication on our AIX box (running version 6.1). I was able to successfully set up Kerberos, and the LDAP client to connect to our AD server so that you can now log in to the AIX box with users found in Active Directory. However, no

Samba fileserver limited to 50 MB/s on gbit
Hello, I am running a fileserver with smbd here. The server is a 64bit 2.8 GHz Celeron D with 2GB RAM, running 64bit Debian, Samba version 3.0.23c. It is running as a pure fileserver so its only CPU load is serving files. The client I am doing the tests from is WinXP Pro SP2. It is connected via Intel e1000 gbit ethernet (both the server and client use e1000 chipsets). I have done a raw tcp

bad performance Vista <-> Samba over gbit
Hi, I've a strange issue with the performance of file transfers between a Samba server and a Vista client. My configuration looks like this: fileserver: Samba 3.3 on FreeBSD 6.2 ----- gbit switch ----- workstation: Vista x64 When transfering files between the two PCs, I get abount 6.5 to 7 MB / sec. On my last Vista installation I got about 40 MB / sec. I've tried the following: -
