Samba as BDC: unable to write on shared folders
I use Samba as a PDC (non-AD-style) on the server n°1.
I have successfully created a BDC on the server n°2.
I followed the official guide SAMBA
(https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/samba-bdc.html)
On servers n°2 I have also transferred the users database from the
server n° 1

samba 3.0.23a + ldap as PDC - should work, but why?
I've got an issue with roaming profiles with samba 3.0.23a and an LDAP backend. I can use the ldap to authenticate an NT and a local user, and I know alot about PAM, NSS, and general linux. BUT, I can't get ANY roaming profiles to work.
Other than my domain name changed for security purposes, the following is my smb.conf file. (I first used SWAT, then did more customization)

Short delay when logging in an XP client to a Samba PDC
Hello everyone,
I'm using Samba 3.0.30 as PDC in my home-LAN, the clients are all XP Pro SP2.
Everything is working as it should, although I notice an annoying and quite
random login delay of 1-5 seconds for all user-machine combinations. The log
lines below (log-level 2) are for example what I got about an hour ago:
[2009/03/20 18:43:45, 3] smbd/open.c:open_file(240)

PDC roaming profiles and templates
Greetings!
I have configured samba as a PDC.
This works fine so far, I can add users, log in at my Win2k workstations and
use roaming profiles. But now my problem: I want several "template"
profiles. I want to use several different pre-configured base-profiles.
1) I configure a template-user: configure the corresponding Desktop,
network and printer connections and so on.
2) After this

mandatory profiles, group policies, Samba3 PDC winxp Clients
Hello all,
I've been trying to figure out what the best way of doing the group policy
thing is. We are running samba 3 on slackware 9 with winxp clients. We are a

so i decided to go the "administrative template" way (used to be .pol files)

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all;
for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school.
It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend.
I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home
drive for users also.
It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing
which is broken is roaming profile support.
When user is logging into domain

Samba 3.0 PDC + XP + roaming profile = big, strange mistery of sorts
Please bear with me as this is quite a complicated problem which has
eluded me for days now...
I recently upgraded a Samba 2.2 PDC to Samba 3.0 [3.0.20a as of now].
After upgrading, I had problems with two XP machines, among 16 of them.
One of them didn't validate the domain users correctly. That was
immediately taken care of by having said machine leave and re-join the
domain. Nothing
