Help! winbind problem...
hello, please help me, I'm nearly going crazy :(( I tried to authenticate postfix (smtp-auth) via pam_smbpass.so. This doesn't work, it works with ssh and imap, but not with postfix, darn (pam_unix is working with postfix) Then I tried pam_winbind.so, which somebody has told me to use it instead of pam_smbpass.so. But this is not working in any way I am trying :( The PDC server

Bad Password
Everyone, I am going nuts trying to figure this problem out. I have successfully joined a SUSE 10 server to our domain and configured samba for ADS authentication. This exact setup works on all my other servers. On this one, I keep getting access denied when entering my domain password despite the fact that I have tried it literally dozens of times. I am 100% confident I am

Sharing to domain users?
Couple questions to those who have the winbindd service up and running... I *think* winbindd is working now... I can browse the samba server through windows explorer and open directories. There is a little delay when I first connect... I assume this is winbind passing the authentication request to my NT servers and awaiting a response. The problem now is that I can't seem to write to the

samba / winbind user authentication problem
Hi, I have a problem with samba / winbind PAM authentication. Domain controller is samba4, machines users log on to via PAM are samba 3.6 (all of them ubuntu 12.04 LTS). The whole user authentication was working already, but after a reboot it somehow broke. Additional reboots don't help. The funny thing is that all logs look quite OK to me (except for the single line saying

samba shares and active directory
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I know I'm very close but I'm missing one little piece. I have added a samba machine to my domain using net ads and winbind and it's working lovely. I can log into the linux server with my active directory credentials but I am unable to access shares on the samba server from windows using active directory credentials.

Annoying Winbind Pause While Looking Up Permissions
Our linux SLES10 fileserver is running Samba (3.0.28) and is a domain member in a Win2003 AD. Everything has been working fine for several months with the exception of an annoying pause that occurs while browsing shares. The pause will last 30 seconds and occurs roughly once every 5-10 minutes. The pause is universal, meaning, that all Windows clients trying to browse or access files will see this

Samba 3.0.21b winbind crash
I'm using Samba 3.0.21b on SuSE 9.3 Pro (x86) with the binary RPMs from samba.org/suse.com (3.0.21b-1.1.2-SUSE-SL9.3) on a Domain Member Server in ADS mode with winbind against W2K3 SP1 AD servers and idmap uids/gids stored in a central OpenLDAP directory. Unfortunately, winbind gives me a hard time and reproducibly dies with a PANIC on a "wbinfo -g", although I think I've

Winbind fails to connect to \PIPE\NETLOGON with 3.0.10 and 3.0.9
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Joining a mixed 2000 domain worked correctly for Samba 3.0.2a. After upgrading to either samba 3.0.9 or 3.0.10, the net ads join command completes successfully, and wbinfo -u returns a list of users, but any attempt to actually authenticate those users fails with NT_STATUS_PIPE_NOT_AVAILABLE. wbinfo -t also does not work, and produces the log file

winbind lookup errors
Hello Samba folks, I have recently begun seeing some disturbing behavior from winbind. Winbind will fail to look up users and groups. Examples: The machine is configured to use winbind as a nss module. "getent passwd <username>" will yield no results. "wbinfo -n <username>" will yield "Could not lookup name <username>" "wbinfo -g"

Centos 5 pam system-auth changes?
Can someone explain the changes in the system PAM setup for Centos5 vs. earlier verions? I have servers configured to use SMB authentication against a Windows domain controller so I don't have to deal with separate passwords. That still works the same for users that actually have local accounts. However, on some machines I also build the mod_auth_pam module for apache and use an

Samba authentication against an NT group in Apache
We would like to have our Apache Linux-based web server use our existing NT domain to authenticate some of our web pages. We are using the Apache module mod_auth_pam to use pam-based authentication and then the winbind pam module to do the actual authentication. We have gotten to the point where we can authenticate using NT _users_, but we have not been able to authenticate using _groups_. For
