Disappearing Shares?
I am new to Linux and running SuSE V8.0 with KDE desktop and
Samba 2.2.7 on a small bnetwor5k which also has a Windows NT
PC and a notebook.
On the Linux PC's I have used LinNeighborhood to mount the
various shares and can readily view files on the Linux PC's, or on
the windoze machines.
I have had a number of occasions where I have had to power down

Can't reach Samba shares from Win XP Pro
This seems to be common enough problem. I've used a variety of methods
(command line as well as utilities like LinNeighborhood) to mount XP
shares on my RedHat 8.0 running Samba 2.2.7. I get consistent problems
the other way around. Despite a couple of shares on my Linux partition,
I am just unable to do get to it. Network Neighborhood shows my
Linux/Samba server but no shares, nor can I

New DNS implementation
Hey everyone. I compiled Beta 9 and used the Bind9 DNS server for Samba
DNS. Now I'd like to compile and set up RC1. I hear that it uses the new
internal DNS server by default. Is there any additional configuration that
needs to be set up here with the new DNS implementation?

Samba 4 samba-tool dns question
Hello Everyone,
I am used to messing with bind zones directly. With samba 4, I cannot do
that. Is the following the correct way to add a TXT record for SPF to
the zone using samba-tool?
/usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool dns add s4server.example.org example.org
example.org TXT "v=spf1 mx -all"
I am not sure it is because it is showing up with dig as "v=spf1" "mx"

i can get users and machines onto the domain, and the hardware seems to
not know its not a standard AD setup.
I've been using the howto on the wiki, and i've
