Fwd: Follow Up - Problem with groups & joining domain.- LDAP
Follow up to original post.
If I created local groups and users in /etc/passwd &
/etc/groups I get farther along.
For instance, if I have a Samba PDC with LDAP basically like I listed
in my post. If I browse from a w2k pro box to the samba server
without the workstation having joined the domain, I can authenticate
to the samba server with a user who is not in /etc/passwd but is in
LDAP. So

Restricting file server access by group
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
This is for the same file server I wrote about earlier.
I would like to restrict access by group, as defined in LDAP. The
obvious solution is to add a filter to the login LDAP search that
restricts to gidNumber=10038 or 10001, since those are the groups I
need. From what I'm seeing, I need to add that to /etc/ldap.conf in the

Samba 3 & ADS current capabilities [adr]
Andrew,
Thanks for your response. This reply is actually not a request for
additional help. After much searching throught the lists and Google
along with a lot of experimentation, I think I've got it (mostly) figure
out. This post is just an effort to help others who might be struggling
with the same issues as I was. I'm sure it's far from perfect and if
anyone has suggestions on

PROBLEM: log abort over RAID5
Several people already reported this at linux-kernel and
elsewhere with no answers, I thought perhaps this would be a more
adequate forum...
[1.] One line summary of the problem:
After I/O, journal is aborted and filesystems made read-only.
[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
One can't anymore write to the affected file systems. Upon
investigation, ext3fs journal was aborted

Getting Winbind IDMAP into LDAP?
Hi,
I?ve been trying to populate an LDAP directory with IDMAP information from
Winbind using NSS_LDAP without much success over the last week.
Can anybody tell me if I?ve done anything obviously wrong?
I?ve followed the example shown in the Samba ?By Example? doc and am at the
stage where the LDAP directory has been created and configured, NSS_LDAP
config is amended, smb.conf contains entries to

Hi,
Made no difference if set on the member I want to add to domain, but

Samba + Clipper problem!
Hi everyone,
Here is the problem:
I have a server running Red Hat 5.2 and Samba-2.0.4 as
file server for
about 20 diskless machines with MSClient boot disks (created with
NT
server SP3). The server shares a dir with a Clipper/DBF database
for
those clients and the EXE file is in a NT machine. For weeks I've
been
trying to put the things together but the clients always break

Problem Connecting from Windows to Samba-OpenLDAP PDC
Every time I try to add a pc to the domain I get the response that it

located here:

and am setting it up on a copy of Fedora Core 4 using the default
installed packages and versions. I am also unable to complete step

Suddenly wine has a problem
Wine has been working perfectly over the last few months, and suddenly today I seem to be having this problem when I have not modified anything since the last time I sued wine.
I should also point out, I have made no configuration changes to wine to cause this issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix the problem. Thanks

UTMP duplicated entries
Hi everybody!
I've been noticing some strange entries in samba/utmp. I have a lot of
00:00 timed sessions.
But the worst problem is that i found some conflicting information. Since
windows doesn't allow concurrent login sessions, I think utmp should not
have generated the following entries.

File system permissions - setgid bit and Netapp NFS volumes
Greetings Dovecot List,
I have a bit of an edge case I am trying to resolve. I am currently
using dovecot on Ubuntu 14.04 - Ubuntu package version:

I have attached the output of doveconf -n to this email - but to
describe the configuration in a nutshell:

I do not use dovecot delivery service (there is a separate

Hi, I''m having a problem with Milter-Sender (v0.62) in the fact that I''m not able to tune the GreyListRejectCount the way that I want to. Namely I''m having a problem setting the GreyListRejectCount to any value higher than a single digit, or at least that''s what I think is happening. I''ve been ""fighting this problem for a while on my server

ia64 mis-merge
Peter,
There was a mis-merge in the ia64 patch you put into 0.83. Olaf Hering
pointed it out. The patch is attached. Olaf claims that he is still
unable to compile for ia64 with is toolchain. He's getting the
following error:
