`getent passwd` not working with ad backend
Hi all, I've been reading and it seems like ad backend has many features that I'd like to use. However, despite browsing many forums and docs, I am still unable to get domain users list using `getent passwd` while using `ad backend`. If I change backend to tdb, then I can get usernames on the clients. Authentication works fine too when using `tdb backend`. I think the only issue is with

Upgrading 2.15.3 to 3.0.x on Debian Squeeze?
I'm running Debian Squeeze on an amd64 machine and currently have R 2.15.3. Some packages have been installed with aptitude and some with install.packages(). Now I'd like to update R to 3.0.2 (I upgraded arm to a version that requires 3.0 :-( ), and I'm a confused. - http://cran.us.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian/ seems to say I just change the sources list to point to

overriding included classes
I believe this has already been discussed[1], but I''d like to add a bit more to that original discussion and see if anyone has any suggestions. Here''s what I''m trying to do: we have a set of very thorough "wipe" scripts that run every night on our workstations. I''d like to stash these into a class so that I can include them as a group: class wiped

Hi, Everytime I restart Centos 7 I receive a error saying? metadata is corrupt and then I need to go through the process of mount and unmount the disk uuid then run xfs_repair {some uuid} or xfs_repair -L {some uuid} which ultimately corrupts even more. can't get UPSDRV to see serial port
First, a little history; nut has been working on this system for about two years. It was a Fedora Core 2 (3?) system that I wiped and installed SUSE 10.1 on so I'm fairly confident of the hardware. I thought I'd saved the nut configuration details before I did the reinstall, but can't find them. (D'oh!) The UPS is an APC BackUPS Pro 420. The cable is a clone of the APC

user profil wipe in a samba 4 AD domain
OK for the local profiles. I got both of them one call joe and the other domain.joe. Saw it, no problem about that. I copied the data from local to domain one. The thing is that after few days the domain.joe was emptied. The joe did stay the same. And I do not get why the domain.joe got blanked (all data gone) Cheers for the help Meilleures salutations / Best regards, Joseph-Andr? GUARAGNA

user profil wipe in a samba 4 AD domain
I look at your article, and it did not change my view about profile. As we did not use any roaming/mandatory profile, nor we have any redirection. the only roaming we have is dedicated to few users and we use NFS as they are under linux, and way more simpler to set up. Strangely we do not have problems with those profiles. Maybe I am in a situation were : "You can't see the wood for the

Possibly WERR_DS_DRA_ACCESS_DENIED or NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
All, but once, I've used it as second DC in conjunction with a Windows AD server, joining it to an existing domain. Granted, this is the first time I've used it with a 2008R2 AD domain and forest level. Before I spent anyone else's time on this, I wiped it completely (down to new disk labels) and still run into this error. It is good to know that it should be working. If anyone

Deploying file from server only initially
Is it possible to have a file copied from the fileserver but only when it doesn''t exist? I want to prevent changes on the client from being wiped out if it is different. We have a couple of config files that the DBAs are resistant to managing through puppet. They currently manually deploy changes and I don''t want those changes wiped out if the server isn''t updated. I

recreating domain with existing gid and uid
Okay, I gave up fixing that raspberry and going to use some conventional legacy PC instead and reinstall it all. Is there a way I can use the group, user and domain controller IDs from the backups I created to reinstall a new Samba4 DC without the clients noticing? I don't like to rejoin everything yet another time. - Axel

Trying to add workstation to smb domain and get access denied
Rebooted my system for a windows update. When it came back up, It said the trust between my workstation and DC was broken. (Running Windows 7x64 SP1). Very odd, haven't seen that for a while. I thought it would be easy: unjoin/rejoin. But upon trying to rejoin, I get: The join operation was not successful. This could be because an existing computer account having name 'ANY'

steps for fileserver replacement
Hi, In the near future we are going to replace our current fileserver (domain member server in a samba4 AD) with new hardware, and new fresh debian 9 installation. I don't want to upgrade the old installation, but completely reinstall. So, should it simply work to: - install the new machine with a random temp name / ip - make it also a domain member server (under the temp name) -

Purging info about a deleted node
Hello all, this is just a minor nuisance but nevertheless I would not dislike a solution for it. I run a mixed 1.0/1.1 VPN. Some time ago I've removed a node from the VPN (wiped the disk, so deleting the private keys). Over the time I've removed the corresponding public keys (among with all the infos related to the node) from the other nodes. All nodes have been restarted more than

Winbind and caching - idmap, DC
Hi everyone, I have few questions about Winbind on AD DS domain member I'm having difficulty finding answers to in the docs on my own: * does Winbind remember the last DC it was connected to on shutdown, will it attempt to connect to the same DC on restart or will it go through DC location process again? * If yes, will that information be wiped out when one runs 'net cache flush'? *

[Flac-users] Warn overwrite output file
I have had this happen to me once: Encoding of a .wav file was interrupted somehow, so an incomplete .flac flie was generated. I accidentally ran a decode on that .flac file, which wiped out the original .wav file. I suggest that flac adopt one of the following to handle the situation that an output file is specified with -o or implied, and the output file already exists: 1. rename the

Migrate Outlook Express mail to Thunderbird?
Hi, A friend's laptop just quit working under Windows XP, so I 1) booted a Knoppix Live CD 2) configured the thing for my LAN 3) scp'ed recursively Documents\ and\ Settings/, 4) wiped the hard disk clean and 5) installed CentOS 5.1. No dual-boot, no prisoners, just 100% GNU/Linux :oD I managed to find the contents of the Outlook Express Mailboxes in some obscure subdirectory.
