Group Polic Software Install Packages located on SAMBA share
Hi All,
I am running debian etch and samba 3.0.24. I have it configured to for
krb5, winbind, and ads. Everything is working perfect as far as
accessing shares, authentication using AD logins. I have one issue. I
have some computer group policies on my AD server to do various software
installs. The msi and files themselves are hosted on a share on my samba
server. The software installs

Does anyone know how I could integrate my Asterisk setup with Outlook so
that when I click on a phone number is my outlook address book it will
dial the number and ring my SIP phone so that I can just pick it up? I

WInVista with Outlook 2007.

My Documents Folder Redirection to Samba Share
Does anyone know how to setup the smb.conf file for the my document
folder redirection in windows. If I point it to a root share, with a
Microsoft file server, it will automatically create a folder for each
user with a my documents folder under that. How can I get that to
happen with a samba share. Using Debian Etch and Samba 3.0.24 and
fairly new to samba. The default smb.conf makes mention

I'm receiving the errors listed below. It also seems unable to map the root

Wbinfo -u and -g return output but getent passwd does not. This is Ubuntu 7

Active Directory DNS Registration
Hi,
I'm using a domain where the DNS is hosted by a couple of domain controllers
on the network, outside of my control. I do have ability to work with group
policy and active directory users and computers.
I was able to join a samba/linux computer to the domain using 'net rpc join
-S <IP of local DC/DNS server>'.
This caused an entry for the computer to show up in Active

Problems with smbpasswd
I've compiled the latest version of samba (1.9.18p4) and set up password
encryption (per instructions in the ENCRYPTIONS.txt file). Setting root's
smbpasswd worked with no problems. I set another user (me) with an
smbpasswd. Tried "smbclient -L '\\hostname\wwinzer'". The output is the
following:

Using machine account credentials for issuing standalone ldap queries against a Windows 2000 Active Directory server
Hello All,
This might come across as a rather strange and interesting question related to using machine account credentials to issue standalone ldap queries against an Active Directory server.
We are using Samba and use 'ads' mode to join the machine onto the Active Directory (net ads join).? Once the machine is joined to the domain,?we do not have access to the username and password

How to join a linux machine to a Active Directory Domain using Samba.
Hi,
having read through tons of different how-to's about how to do this specific
task has made me quite sick. Do someone know a good guide for this or can
she/he make a quick how-to? I am atm using samba 3.0 alpha 20 but I gladly
change to 2.xx if that would do the trick. Anyone?

Active Directory 'add machine script' parameter
Hi,
I'm looking at migration from Samba3 (NT domain) to a Samba4 in 4.1.6 on
ubuntu 14.04 in active directory domain controller mode.
I was doing some stuff when subscribing machines to the domain through a
script called by smbd, as described with 'add machine script' parameter
in smb.conf.
It seems that this behavior isn't supported in Active Directory mode in

CentOS magic to Active Directory login?
I've been trying to follow samba, centos, ldap, and other
documentation to try and get a CentOS 5 box to permit a user to log
into an existing Windows 200x Active Directory domain without
necessarily having the box as part of the domain. If it has to be
part of the domain, that is fine. The user shall have no local
account on the box - I want their active directory account to
