SID problem with working samba
hello, i have 1 PDC and 1 BDC using smbldap, and now i'm adding a server (as a domain member, not BDC) that will have shares to be mounted by the clients. this server also uses smbldap and, at this moment, the service is working almost normally. the problem seems to be the typical SID problem, but my new samba reports to have the same SID that the PDC and BDC have, and users can log into

File Lock Issue
Hi All, I've seen a few messages similar to my problem, looking back through the mailing list but the issue I'm having is a little more unique. We have a user, who uses both wireless and wired connection. He uses truecrypt, that has the encrypted file sitting on a samba share. What I think is happening is he will unplugged his wired connection and move to a meeting room and connect

connecting to shares in other subnet : slow
Greets, samba-users, I contact this list because of a problem I face at a customer's site. We run Samba version 3.0.28-0.6-1787-SUSE-CODE10 there on a SLES 10 SP2 server. This server is located behind a firewall (run by me), that firewall allows all relevant Samba-ports through (137-139, 445). The clients are located in a separated subnet, the routing between client- and server-subnet is

Office 2007 saves files as read only on samba shares?
I've been running the same configuration for a couple of years now, and since I've upgraded to Office 2007, MS Word and MS Excel files save to my samba shares as -r-------- even when they are opened as being chmod 777. Files I create/edit using other editors or windows explorer are put onto the share with the correct permissions. My conf looks like this: [global] workgroup = WG

To make winbindd upset and unresponsive (3.2.6)
This simple and often-suggested command to test Samba: getent passwd reproducibly upsets winbindd on my SLES 10 SP1 machine. The command does often return many results from our campus ADS. But after it completes -- or if the command pauses for quite some time after showing local users -- Samba is troubled. In five tests this afternoon, after getent passwd, wbinfo --ping fails every time

krb5 configuration generation
Hi, Is there any way to stop Samba regenerating the krb5.conf.[WORKGROUP] file under /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 every time? It appears to completely ignore /etc/krb5.conf, is this expected? Kernel: Linux localhost 2.6.16.60-0.37_f594963d-smp #1 SMP Mon Mar 23 13:39:48 UTC 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux smbd -V: Version 3.0.32-0.8-2045-SUSE-CODE10 Thanks, Alex

smbclient suddenly getting access denied
Hi, On Saturday I was able to run smbclient to connect to my Samba share just fine. Nothing was rebooted and nothing was installed/updated except for adding Python and Putty on the Windows server. The Windows server is running Windows Server 2016 and my Samba client is running 3.6.3 (it's the latest from SLES 11 but ported to SLES 10 - long story...). But today when I try to connect I get:

seeking a help on if function
Hello r helpers! Below is the whole coding for my programme. Before proceed more further, let me explain for you. First of all, I need to compute trimmed mean. Till that step is ok. Then I need to compute ssdw which is sum of square deviation. If I do equal trimming at both tail of distribution that I chose, I will use the first ssd formulae which is "a". But if I am doing unequal

missing level of a nested factor results in an NA in lm output
Hello All, I have posted to this list before regarding the same issue so I apologize for the multiple e-mails. I am still struggling with this issue so I thought I'd give it another try. This time I have included reproducible code and a subset of the data I am analyzing. I am running an ANOVA with three factors: GROUP (5 levels), FEATURE (2 levels), and PATIENT (2 levels), where

Full_Name: Martha Nason Version: 2.0.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (137.187.154.154) I am running simulations using fisher's test on 2 x c tables and a very small p.value from fisher's test (<2.2e-16) is returned as a negative number. Reclassify string values
Hi All, Is there a simple way to convert a string such as c("A", "B" ,"C", "D") to a string of c("Group1", "Group1", "Group2", "Group2"). Naturally I could use the factor function as below but I don't like seeing that warning message (and I don't want to turn off warning messages). Perhaps a function

Permissions in shared folders
Hi, On my mail server I want to implement shared folders for each workgroup where there are many workgroups. One way would be to create a separate namespace for each workgroup. However, this does not scale well so I decided to use a single Shared mailbox and use ACLs: namespace public { separator = . prefix = Shared. location = maildir:/var/mail/shared:CONTROL=~/Maildir/shared } Each

Questions about dovecot-shared in 1.2 and inherit group membership from parent mailbox
Hi, I read the Wiki about dovecot-shared a few times but it is not 100% clear to me (at least for 1.2). First, if I want shared keywords I *must* have a dovecot-shared. In this case, the permissions are not taken any longer from the parent folder (what is exactly this parent folder?) but from the dovecot-shared file. So in some sense dovecot-shared is always required (since everyone would

How to conctruct an inner grouping for nlme random statement?
Hello. Im hoping someone can help with a grouping question related to the "random=" statement within the nlme function. How do you specify that some grouping levels are inner to others? I tried several things, given below. Lets say I have a data frame with five variables, resp, cov1, ran1, ran2, group1, and group 2. The formula is resp~cov1 + ran1 + ran2, where the ran are random
