ACL broken between Samba3.0.22 and Samba3.0.23 on Redhat ES4 ?
Having recently compiled and installed Samba3.0.23 on Redhat ES4 I find
that ACL support is no longer working.
I have just upgraded my Solaris and Redhat machines from Samba3.0.22 to
the latest Samba3.0.23. These systems use the same smb.conf settings and
have been operating fine with many previous versions of SAMBA. However
the Redhat machine will not correctly honour ACL permissions, for

net setlocalsid for doimain doesn't work as wanted
Hallo Herr Trapp,
ich bin am verzweifeln. Haben Sie eine L?sung gefunden,
um mittels setlocalsid die Dom?nenSID zu ?ndern? Ich weiss, es ist
schon l?nger her.

Need proper steps for correct use of net setlocalsid
Hi, all.
I have discovered that I botched a migration from a 2.2.8a Samba PDC to
Samba 3.3.4; in particular the domain sid was not preserved. Users of the
domain have been authenticating presumably against cached local machine
credentials, mapping them to their old domain SIDS. That's ultimately how I
discovered the domain SID had been trashed - every machine started showing
unmapped users

"net setlocalsid" question
Hi,
I'm a tad confused about something. I've got a production instance of Samba
running. I am trying to get a test version running on the same box, with the
same SID. Without the test server running, I used "net setlocalSID
<oldsid>" (the net binary is the one for the new server). Then when I issued
'net getlocalsid' it returned it. I thought I was fine.

roaming profiles moved to a new machine - big confusion
Hello samba dancers,
I'm Friedrich Strohmaier and new to this mailing list. More important:
I'm (very) new to PDCing Computers in a network, and I ran in big
troubles doing so.
Try to tell a long story in short: I'm a fairly experienced
administrator for linux systems, and was orderd to move a
serverinstallation (SuSE7.0, Samba2.2.x) to a new machine. The old
machine did stop

Can't access dirs with subgroups of a samba share
Hi all!
Here's the problem we have since patching Monday night. Tuesday morning
Samba wasn't running, but started fine, and everything seemed to be working.
Were currently running samba3.0.24-2.23 and I believe before the patch
we were running samba3.0.22-13.30.
We have some samba shares where we have subgroups that only a select
group of people of the parent group are allowed to

Samba 3.0 and username map.
Hello,
I'm using samba 2.2.8 for aprox 40 computers and about 200 users.
(no one has a computer for his own, so I'm using domainlogons and
roamingprofiles)
To map my (windows) users with unix accounts, I use a large (!)
username map file. Apart from being large, I'm not happy with the way
usernames can be added or modified.
My question is:
do I have to use the option username

doubt in samba-ldap configuration
Hello group,
I am trying to configure ldap backend to samba.
My samba and ldap machines are on different machines.
I am using samba3.0.22 and openldap-2.3.11.
I got two smb.conf files.
One in /etc/samba/smb.conf and another in
/usr/share/doc/samba-3.0.22/examples/LDAP/smbldap-tools-0.9.1/smb.conf.
Now the problem is when iam using 2nd smb.conf,
smbclient is showing the share info. for any

Trouble with ldapsam on OpenBSD
I'm trying to setup a basic Samba 3 domain with LDAP on OpenBSD. When
using the ldapsam passdb, the smbd processes terminate. I've poured
over the log files and tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot
it. The odd thing I've noticed is that if I start smbd and don't cause
any network connections to it for about 20 minutes, then it works
perfectly. I'm really hoping that
