What do the messages below mean? I lost all network connectivity and
started receiving these messages after changing username map from root =

Code to check Password Server Group Memberships
I am not a member of the samba listserv, but I wanted to contribute
the following code to the samba effort.
The following is clipped from some experimental
changes I have made to my own copy of the samba
source. I have not included all of the changes
because I don't have the time to. But someone should
be able to properly do the integration without too
much effort.
Summary, these

smbd hanging at BDC
Hi all
I have a samba pdc(master LDAP Server) with 1 BDC(slave ldap server), the
version of Samba at PDC and BDC is samba 3.0.21c. At BDC , there are some
shares declared. The shares are used to store Fox pro files. The client uses
foxpro and opens DBF file in the share declared.
and also Roaming profiles is also used at BDC. The problem is samba hangs
frequently. Once rebooted works for some

Kerberos authentication sigsegvs
Hi
I'm having major problems setting up Samba 3.0.9 with kerberos
authentication. I have also tried with 3.0.8(from Debian SID) with same
result.
smb.conf[1] has 'security = ads' , and 'use kerberos keytab = yes'.
I have set up pam_krb5 and I get TGTs that works with my ssh
servers.
But, when I try to authenticate using smbclient -k -L server I
get:

smbd's running wild in Solaris x86 malloc...
Greetings!
We've got a neat little problem running Samba 1.9.18p8 on Solaris x86 2.5.1
and AFS on a dual-processor Dell PowerEdge 2200 w/ 128M RAM. The machine has
11M of free real memory and 417M of free swap according to "top".
Every once in a while (there goes one now...) an "smbd" process will attempt
to consume all available processing time it can. We recompiled

ADS, W2K3, and various other broken things. (rc1)
After seeing the /. post the other day I went 'w00p' (as you do) and
grabbed RC1. *sigh*. I'm not having fun. I've got a nice little test
network here:
2003 ADS Server (gladstonewireless.net)
Samba 3rc1 as a member.
I can not mount from 2003 - I get a crash.

high cpu load with 3.0.20b (not using ldap)
Hi,
I've a problem, with a cpu load (>66% while running a separate virusscanner
with another 30%) of one of my smbd processes. It only happens occasionally
(approx. 2 times in the last 4 weeks). The backtrace is attached.
It seems to me, that smbd is looking for colorlaser5quota. This printer isn't
attached anymore to the server and neither cups nor samba configuration
files include a

Problem with Win95 + DFS clients (fwd)
Hi,
I've found a problem with samba when printing from a client running win95
+ DFS. The print fails with a segmentation fault. The problem is that
Win95 does not return the proper file_fsp( smb_vwv0) when doing an IOCTL
request.This causes the file_fsp call in reply_ioctl (smbd/reply.c) to
fail cause a segmentation fault.
I do not understand how samba work, but here is my working patch

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
It would be nice to get more input.
I am really lost because I am not sure what is going on here, and there
are no sources to investigate on.
Thank you.

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
To make it complete, here is the code that I am using to encode a large
file:
int __stdcall SpxEncode(unsigned char* inBuf, unsigned char* outBuf,
unsigned int inlen)
{
//char *testFile;
//FILE *ftest;
//testFile = "test";
//ftest = fopen(testFile, "wb");
//fwrite(inBuf,1,inlen,ftest);
//take every 320 bytes
//copy every short to float

samba 2.0.6 on Irix 6.5.6m core dump problem (internal error)
Samba: binary kit from samba.org

computer: SGI indigo2 with a 250MHz 4400 CPU, 64MB RAM, Irix 6.5.6m

It looks like every time smbd spawns, the child process seems to die a
horrible death and leave a core file. As a result I am unable to use any
netbios services on the machine.
The core file which I have examined says that the process died with

dom0 crash while booting from AOE devices
Hello,
I have encountered a crash in dom0 kernel while booting a domU from an AOE
device. I haven''t seen such crashes when booting from local partitions/ LVM
volumes/ loopback file systems. Also I haven''t seen such crash when I did
repetitive I/O to these AOE devices. As the call trace of crash indicates
the crash is in xenolinux kernel. Also this crash is predictably

Signal 11 in smbd 3.0.2rc2 on printer operation!
Our computers in our office ceased being able to print to a shared cups

dying. Below is the stack trace produced by gdb bt full.

Xen/AoE skb frag array incompatibility
Greetings, Xen developers!
I have been using AoE with Xen to great effect and I am very pleased
with how the whole system has worked out. The two technologies really
complement each other. I consider it the ultimate setup. Aside from the
network switch (eventually to be remedied) my serving infrastructure has
zero single points of failure.
However, this virtualization paradise has a flaw:

LVM issue
Hi We use AoE disks for some of our systems. Currently, a 15.65Tb filesystem we have is full, I then extended the LVM by a further 4Tb but resize4fs could not handle a filesystem over 16Tb (CentOS 5.5). I then reduced the lvm by the same amount, and attempted to create a new LV, but get this error message in the process
lvcreate -v -ndata2 -L2T -t aoe
Test mode: Metadata will NOT be updated.

Decoding only a certain frame results in different values than when decoding the entire file
I found out something:
The more frames I decode before the frame that I actually want to
decode, the better the quality becomes.
For example when I basically want to decode frame #100, I read frame #80
to #100, and then frame 100 has the quality that I need.
Why? Is there any information on this behaviour?
Thank you.
