getting 0x00000057 on Vista
Hi, I'm getting 0x00000057 when trying to install a printer on Vista clients
from a Samba hosted printer server. The packet traces shows the last
transaction is GetPrinterDriver2, but I just don't see what's invalid in the
reponse. I have tried 3.0.22, 3.0.26a, and 3.0.28 and they all give me the
same error. Can someone please help?
Thanks!

Vista can't use samba hosted printer drivers
Is anyone else seeing Vista (final) will not "connect" to a samba-hosted
printer? I'm getting error 0x00000057. I can connect to the port only
and install a local driver, though. It's just that the drivers will not load
correctly. The drivers do load partly, because I can see driver-specific
attributes if I go to "Properties" rather than "Connect". But a test

Can not connect to printer from Vista 64 - error 0x000006f7
Hello.
I have a problem connecting to a printer via Samba from Vista 64-bit.
Samba is configured to use printers from CUPS. When I try to connect to
a printer I get a error message saying "Windows cannot connect to the
printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006f7)".
I have managed to upload both 32 and 64-bit printer drivers from a
Windows client. Connection and

Vista problem, with ADS samba
I am running samba 3.0.28 on linux servers using ADS security, without
any problem.
However when I added a vista workstation to the mix, it simply cannot
connect to my printers. I can connect to my data/ or disk shares again
without any problem from both 64bit vista, and 32 bit vista.
When I try to access my printers though I get "Windows cannot connect

Samba 3.0.25b + Vista Printers
Hello there
I've just upgraded our Samba server to 3.0.25b and am still having
problems with Windows Vista clients accessing printers. XP/2000
clients continue to work fine - but Vista refuses to connect to Samba
printers that have drivers hosted on the Samba server.
To clarify, as part of the netlogon batch job, clients attempt to
connect to Samba-hosted printer shares, and if they

Vista Ulimate joining Samba-Domain
Hi list,
I have a question concerning a MS Vista Ultimate-Client which I already
have joined with a Samba-Domain (3.0.26a), and I do hope that anyone can
help me or can give me a hint where to proceed my search.
My problem is, that the logon process on this Vista-Client is very long
(~1-2 min.). After switching to the detailed logon view, I can see, that
Vista displays the (german) messages

Copy file from Vista to samba share
Hi,
my Vista box does hang if I try to copy an File on an Samba share.
- Hanging does happen on both, explorer and CMD. In Explorer it
shows up to calculate how long it might take. In CMD nothing
happend.
- Afterwards Vista refuses to shut down.
- Creating an File on the Share and saving it from within notepad
does not cause any trouble.
- Limiting protocol to lanman2 seems to help

Vista, 35 second login delay, domain only.
Hello,
I've spent time trying to find an answer to this one, but no luck.
The main problem is that when any user logs into Vista with a domain
account, there will be ~35 second delay where the system just sits at
the welcome screen with the spinning circle. (after typing their
password)
This happens on Vista sp1, and earlier. Also on Samba 3.0.24, 3.0.28 and 3.2.
I'm pretty sure

Samba <-> Vista RTM interoperability issue
Hi List!
We've run into interesting problem with Samba and Vista.
In short - there's a Samba server sharing NFS connection. What is shared is the NFS link mounted somewhere in root (say /nfspath) and [homes] which is in fact /nfspath/some/dir. And the problem is that Vista client can write a file onto the share using \\sambaserver\homes\dir notation, but cannot do it using

Name Resolution (Network Browsing) in Samba4 server with Vista Client?
Hello,
I'm trying to get a samba4 server to show up while "network browsing"
on a Vista client, but with no success. I've scoured the web and tried
many things, but most documentation is for samba3. I can however mount
the samba4 share using it's UNC path, but I really want netbios name
resolution to work.
With samba 3.0.28, as soon as I start smbd and nmbd, I can

Samba and Vista?
I just purchased a new HP laptop running Vista Home Premium on it,
turned it on and was able to get it to connect to the Internet through
my home wireless network. But when I tried to see other computers on my
network I got nadda... One of my computers is running Win2K so perhaps
that is understandable, one XP Pro which I don't understand why Vista
can't see it, and three of my

CUPS LAN printing problem (from Vista)
I have my main machine running Centos 5.6, and it has a HP
Deskjet 810c printer physically attached to it. CUPSD
broadcasts in on my LAN as the default printer. I can print
to the default HP printer over the LAN, from a laptop
running Centos 5.6.
However, I do have problems trying to print to this
same printer over the LAN, from a laptop running
M$ Vista.
Has anyone been able to print from

Cannot seem to get printer driver delivery working from Vista 64 bit systems - Samba 3.0.25b
Version: Samba 3.0.25b
OS: CentOS 5 x86_64
I've had printer driver delivery working OK to 32 bit clients for a while. I
used cupsaddsmb to set that up originally.
We recently added some 64 bit Vista client machines (yay).
I created an x64 directory on the print$ share and followed the Samba HowTo
instructions for finding and uploading a printer driver. The files are from

AddPrinterConnection returns ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER
I set up a Point-n-Print printer server with Samba3.0.28 and it works fine
from XP, but when I try to connect and install the printer driver from Vista
machines, it gives me 0x57 error, does anybody know why this is happening?
I later found out it's AddPrinterConnection call failing, but I don't know
how to go any further beyond that.
Thanks

Vista SP1, Server 2008 joining NT4/Samba Domain
Hello!
It seems, that Vista SP1 and Server 2008 cannot join an NT4/Samba-domain.
Vista once could join before SP1, if one did some modifications to the
system (LAN Manager authentication level, Encryption of secure channel).
But these workarounds do not seem to work with SP1 anymore.
Microsoft points out that joining NT4-domains with Vista SP1 and Server
2008 is not supported/tested

Now Windows XP clients can add the printers and the driver is

ACPI, Vista and Xen
Hi all,
I''m running XP and 2003 Server fine as HVM guests
(under a 32 bit non-pae Xen 3.0.3 self-compiled).
I''ve read that Vista can *not* be /installed/ under
Xen for it checks for ACPI support and install fails
if it isn''t present.
What if I do the install first from, say, plain Qemu
(I''re reused qemu images from Xen) or VMWare (I''ve
