Automatic ADS server fallback
Dear list, I have a question about automatic ADS server fallback of a Samba domain member in a W2k3 environment. I describe now a little our real production ADS environment; Madrid: 2 W2k3 ADS servers (ADM01 and ADM02) in a cluster; both are a global catalog server in the XXXX.COM realm. Berlin; 1 W2k3 ADS server (ADM03); is also a global catalog server in the XXXX.COM realm. The ADS

Samba as W2k3 AD domain member; how to configure domain controller failover?
Dear list, I have a question how you configure Samba (configured as a W2k3 domain member) to failover to a secondary AD domain controller when the connection to the primary domain controller fails. First some info: - Windows 2003 Active directory (native mode), currently running with 2 domain controllers. - Samba (version 3.0.9) running on a RHL9 server (updated with kerberos 1.3.1-7),

upgrade from 3.0.14a to 3.0.27a; CUPS log files flooding!
Hello, I've upgraded 2 of my Samba servers (out of 100+ Samba servers) in my live environment from version 3.0.14a to 3.0.27a. I'm using CUPS as print system for Samba (Samba is compiled with cups-devel) and I use the "Point 'n Print" mechanism of Samba (Windows) to provide XP users with the appropriate drives for the attached printers. CUPS is configured with RAW queues and

PANIC: internal error; winbind daemon (3.0.4) crashes
Hello, I'm using samba 3.0.4, compiled with Kerberos 1.3.1-7, in an W2k3 ADS environment and Kerberos and the Winbind daemon are used for authentication. While checking a winbindd.log file I saw the following PANIC internal error: winbindd.log ========= [2004/07/21 12:15:00, 1] nsswitch/winbindd_group.c:winbindd_getgroups(1032) user 'root' does not exist [2004/07/21 12:15:00, 1]

Group changes made over and over?
Hi, I have several Debian servers with puppet 0.23.2. Part of my manifest looks like this: class virt_all_users { @group { "andy": ensure => "present", gid => "1000" } @user { "andy": ensure => "present", uid => "1000",

Strange folder smb_krb5 in lock directory of version 3.026a
I found a strange folder smb_krb5 in my samba lock directory. Inside, there is something that looks like a Kerberos Configuration, but the content is different from my /etc/krb5.conf (A) Does Samba correctly use my /etc/krb5.conf as before in version 3.023? (B) What is the smb_krb5-folder good for, where does it come from? (C) Can it be deleted safely or does it have to be backed up together with

krb5.conf in /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 very different from original
Hi all ! I have some problems browsing a samba share from a Canon ImageRunner printer. It tries to write to a share located on a samba server, configured to authenticate users against a windows 2003 Active directory. Samba version 3.2.6 is running on opensuse 11.1. After a lot of search, I tought that maybe it did not support the encryption type requested by my Samba server, so I checked my

Add options to /var/run/samba/smb_krb5/krb5.conf_DOMAIN?
Hi, Are there any way to add options to /var/run/samba/smb_krb5/krb5.conf_DOMAIN? I need to add udp_preference_limit and maybe have a better control on which kdc's are used. /var/samba/locks/smb_krb5/krb5.conf.DOM
All, I am running Solaris 10 and Samba 3.6.6. We use intelligent DNS and have more than 10 ADs. In /etc/krb5/krb5.conf I configure kdc and admin_server to point to the IDNS server so any one of our functioning ADs can be used dynamically. I've noticed that /var/samba/locks/smb_krb5/krb5.conf.DOM get created when net ads join is run. I've also noticed that the kdc is set to an IP address

winbind_krb5_locator usage
Hello, I have different Sites in my domain and want the different members to use the respective domain controller of their site. I can't get this to work right. I have a member that is in site B but executing "net ads info" outputs the DC of site A as active. I read about enabling "winbind_krb5_locator", but it is already located in

net ads join fails
Hi, i've got a problem joining a domain with samba 4.1.17 on freebsd. Everytime I try it, the join fails with a core dump. Debugging it, it seems that it is stuck on authentication. Kerberos works, I get credentials, but if I try to join the domain, it fails. The problem seems to be somwhere in this debug-output: 1. net ads join: Doing spnego session setup (blob length=96) got

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Hello, We have a Windows 2008 DC (inview-dc1 and a samba 4.4.16 (inview-dc2) server as a backup DC. The system for the most-part works OK, but occasionally the Samba DC goes wildly out of sync (with respect to group membership), normally after a change to a large group. I have noted previously before the out-of-sync event occurs, this command always fails thus : root at inview-dc2:~#

Listing AD group members
Hi, Ive been trying to work out how to get wbinfo to list members of a specific AD group, rather than list groups a specific user is in. So far I have had no luck... In fact im not sure its possible with wbinfo. Is there another tool which could do this? James -- Sent using Dekko from my Ubuntu device

WERR_BAD_NET_RESP on replication (--full-sync)
Thanks Garming. We currently use a standalone bind DNS server. Will the later version of samba work without the integrated DNS backend? samba 4.4.5 DC with bind9: DNS update failing with NOTAUTH
Hello, I'm trying to join a samba 4 DC to an already existing samba 4 DC, both with BIND9_DLZ. Samba is at version 4.4.5, bind is version 9.10.4-P1, all brand new. The existing DC runs fine, but the added DC refuses to update its local bind database: every attempt to update the local DNS results in "update failed: NOTAUTH". AD replication works perfectly. Both systems are set

krb5 configuration generation
Hi, Is there any way to stop Samba regenerating the krb5.conf.[WORKGROUP] file under /var/lib/samba/smb_krb5 every time? It appears to completely ignore /etc/krb5.conf, is this expected?
