Sharp AR-M550N and SAMBA
Recently, we added a Sharp AR-M550N copier to our network. This device functions as an MFC (scanner/printer/copier). When I attempt to install the drivers to the SAMBA server, I receive an error message which displays briefly and then I receive the following error message when trying to access the properties of the printer. Function address 0x3119c9f caused a protection fault. (exception code

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I seriously doubt it is going to be. Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2 server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any problem. Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the

SAMBA and ACLs on FreeBSD 6.1
I have winbind working and it is providing security for my shares. Now, I would like to implement ACLs so I can help my backup users manage everything through MMC. Following is a copy of my smb.conf file. [global] workgroup = XX winbind separator = + idmap uid = 10000-20000 idmap gid = 10000-20000 winbind enum users = yes winbind enum groups = yes

winbind uid problem
I have installed winbind and it is working, but I need to change the uid/gid being used by winbind since I am running into some conflicts with UIDs. UID 10071 is being used by my spamfilter and winbindd is also mapping one of the user IDs from the W2K3 server to 10071. In an attempt to change this, I modified my smb.conf file as follows. [global] workgroup = MO idmap gid =

ADD Printerdriver to server through APW
Hi I recently tried to install the printerdriver to the samba server (samba 3.0alpha30 on debian) from a windows 2000 client. The APW asked me for a Win2k-server cd for the winnt drivers, although i had them on a disc...which I don't have 2 Questions: 1) does anybody know why the APW will not accept my winnt driver from the driver disc when i comes to install the winnt driver 2) is it

Memory leak in Samba with APW printing configuration ?
Hi, On Samba 3.0.2a on debian stable with a 2.6.5 kernel, each time I use APW to configure my printers, smbd takes more and more memory and the kernel does an Out of Memory (I have 512 Mo RAM). It's Xerox printers. Is the problem known (and corrected in 3.0.3rc1) or is it new ? Thanks for the answer. Cordialy, -- Yohann F.

APW Permissions Issue
SuSE 8.2 with Samba 2.2.7a, smb.conf is at end. (Hostname=outside) This box runs VMware with a Windows 2000 client configured as a workgroup member (hostname=RNOME-W2K). I created a Linux user account for the W2K machine, edited etc/passwd to add a "$" at the end of the username for the machine, and added the machine account and my user account to the Linux ntadmin group. I then ran

APW: Print Driver not Storing for some printer types
Hi there. I'm using samba 3.0.2 as a printserver. It's been working for ages and I upgraded it the other day to see if it fixed this problem I've been having trying to get printer drivers stored onto the server. The mechanism for uploading drivers seems to be working fine but I've recently got two new printers: an HP laserjet4200tn & and OKI c5100. No matter what I seem to

APW issue and excessive Get-Printer-Attributes in CUPS access_log
Hello all, I am trying to get to the bottom of a printing issue with samba-3.0.25b-2.fc7 and cups-1.2.11-2.fc7. I wasn't sure whether to start here or the CUPS list. When left running for an hour or two, the CUPS process will often be left using nearly 100% CPU. At this point, printing and add printer wizard operations from Windows clients over Samba are unreliable. Dialog boxes pertaining
