Please help : Strange 'file has vanished' behaviour with rsync on windows.
Please help : Strange 'file has vanished' behaviour with rsync on windows.
I need to run rsync on windows and sync shares thru UNC names.
When I try :
rsync -e ssh -av //mypc1/myshare1/dir1/* //mypc1/myshare1/dir2/.
rsync does a copy but says "file has vanished" for every file.
Then when I run:
rsync -e ssh -av --dry-run //mypc1/myshare1/dir1/* //mypc1/myshare1/dir2/.
it shows

Removing share from smb.conf

I notice if I simply comment out a share or remove entirely. I
receive errors such as theses. Is there a proper protocol to follow when
removing a share?

Samba4 bug - "mount error(5): Input/output error"
Hi Rowland,
do you maybe have any idea what could potentially cause this bug?
smbclient thrwos me back a
mount error(5): Input/output error
when I try to mount the remote smbFS. It doesn't happen with my MacOSx
and Windows 7 as client but it happens with Linux OSs and with a Konica
Minolta copy machine with a scanner to samba function. The first try to
mount fails with the above error.

Can't use mount command with samba
I have a home network based on Win XP Pro, with one Linux machine
running Red Hat 9. All updates have been applied. There's no domain
controller.
I can connect from the Linux machine to the XP machines via Konqueror
using
smb://mymachine/myshare
However, I can't use the mount command.
I'm trying to use syntax like
mount -t smbfs -o username=myname,password=mypwd //192.168.0.1

I have some NFS4 exports managed by a Samba's Kerberos realm. All the
standard user accesses work fine.
I try now to setup an NFS4 root access to administer the share from
another server (the two host are DC, one PDC and one SDC). But I have
trouble understanding the kerberos/principals layer.

"Windows" share issue; access via smb:// fails, "mount -t cifs" works
Hi,
Is anyone here using smb:// URLs to access "Windows" shares? I've been
doing this for a while with common file systems at work, and it used to
work just fine. Then I while back, I started getting issues; I will now
just keep getting asked for a password when I try to access something
through smb://. I thought at first that this meant there had been some
kind of change
