BDC keeps taking over and not allowing logins from NT PDC
Hello, thanks for looking over my ramblings... We have an NT4 PDC with and NT4 BDC on 192.168.132.X, these boxes are very very old and overloaded. I am trying to replace them with a nice shinny new Samba box. My problem is that while I am trying to test it out to make sure it plays nice it keeps winning the elections. I find this weird as I have set the box to domain master = no and turned the

Domain Member Server Problem
I have a problem with a Member Server on Samba 3.0.28a running on Ubuntu Heady. Both systems were recently upgraded using Ubuntu's automated upgrade. It's also possible I broke a working configuration by accident. The shares on the Member server are visible on the XP clients and some users can authenticate properly. At least one user on one XP desktop cannot. The shares are visible

Samba BDC doesn't talk to LDAP slave on same machine
Hello, I can't get my BDC to talk to the LDAP slave running on the same machine. Replication between slave and master works but samba on the BDC doesn't appear to be communicating with the slave LDAP server. Everything off the PDC works fine. -- smb.conf on BDC -- [global] workgroup = WarehamPS encrypt passwords = Yes time offset = 60 time server = Yes

clients that are not a part of the domain cannot authenticate
Hi, I have asked that last week with a little different subject, but the problem remains. When connecting with a Windows machine (not part of the domain) to the Samba server, the client is not authenticating, even when the user exists in the domain. Domain master is a Windows 2003 SBS machine, the Samba server is a Debian Lenny machine. The problem is occurring with Samba 3.2.13, with Samba

Hi list! I've got a debian "etch" box running samba 3.0.24. The server is a firewall (running Shorewall 3.2.6) with five NICs: eth0 -> DSL (it has a public IP address and it allows all the people browse by masquerading other interfaces) eth1 and eth3 -> bond0 (IP address is 192.168.1.1/24) eth2 and eth4 -> bond1 (IP address is 192.168.2.1/24) BTW, bond+ refers to an

problems creating a share with SWAT
Greetings to all I have been using Samaba for a few years, and think it is a great package. Currently I am trying to use Samba in a corporate environment. Unfortunaley I am surrounded by Windows users, that are extremly afraid of the command line. So I am trying to implement SWAT as a way to allow the admins a way to manage Samba. Enerything seems to work, except for creating new shares. The

Possible? Mount vfat, share, have full use of R/A/S/H attributes?
Hi, I've tried a couple of different versions/distros and can't seem to mount a FAT32 (vfat) partition and then share it with Samba, such that all use of R/A/S/H attributes (for files and folder) is maintained... So I'm wondering if this is even possible? I've most recently been testing with host: Debian 4.0 (Linux 2.6.18-4-686) which includes Samba 3.0.24 client: WinXP

Using users from another samba server
Hello, I currently have a samba server set up as my network PDC (using LDAP as passdb), and I'm trying to set up another linux file server on the network. This file server should allow users to log in based on their passwords on the PDC, however it doesn't need (nor would be appropriate) to be a BDC. How can I set it up to read the remote LDAP? I have already installed libnss-ldap,
