winbind -u works, getent passwd dont't work
This is all correct and by design. Try : getent passwd username If you running this on a Samba AD DC. If you want to see if you pam setup is done, run : pam-auth-update But still you only see the users with : getent passwd username Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens basti via samba > Verzonden: maandag 30

winbind and getent ...
Greetings ... Okay, I was going to send this to Tech, but throught better of it. I have got my ADS/Win2K3 system and Samba3 using winbind. I am able to do getent passwd, which returns users out of ADS. My problem is that I wish to have a Samba box at a remote location, which I currently have, using user accounts stored in LDAP, but have not choice but to move to ADS based users

Re: Winbind ldap samba 3 BDC getent passwd answer don't retrieve domain users, can't login on the domain with users that are not on /ect/passwd
I have seen the same thing in my two installation of beta2 and rc4. Some how, I forgot what I have played around in beta2 and was later been able to do a 'getent passwd DOMAIN\\username' but can't repeat that again. in my latest installation of RC4. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the timing of locating the correct domain controller to logon. As I am experiencing very long

Solaris 9 winbind/getent group issues
Hello everyone, I've got samba 3.0.10 compiled --with-pam and --with-winbind , have put libnss_winbind.so into /usr/lib and created the appropriate links, and have edited /etc/nsswitch.conf to have group and password point to files then winbind. I joined my domain successfully. I'm running on a Solaris 9 system with the 9_Recommended patch cluster installed. Relevant smb.conf lines:

winbind and getent again
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use winbind as nsswitch module on a domain member against a samba PDC, and it used to work fine with samba 3.4. But now after upgrading to 3.5.11, getent group/passwd don't show domain users/groups anymore. However wbinfo -g and wbinfo -u work as expected. Also: # wbinfo -i matare matare:*:50011:50000:Victor Matar?:/home/SGI/matare:/bin/false # wbinfo -U 50011

I have the following problem: "getent passwd" it givs me the list of all users. "getent passwd user" does not give any answer. what could be the problem? I'm using SUSE Linux 10. with the packages that came with the distrib.

Trouble using winbind: getent not returning all groups
I am running samba 3.0.22 on a solaris10 server currently running in a NT 4.0 Domain. I have successfully joined the domain. wbinfo -u successfully returns all my NT users wbinfo -g will give me all my NT groups. getent passwd will successfully return all my NT users with uid's etc. getent group returns only the first 50 or so NT groups. It doesn't seem to log any errors in the logs.
