voip-info.org unreliable lately?
Anyone have any insight as to why voip-info.org has been up and down all day, and more importantly unreliable for the last month? I assume the bandwidth is being donated or something, but surely someone would be willing to donate reliable bandwidth as the knowledge hosted on the site (which is also donated!) is worth way more than the bandwidth. There is no doubt it is the best

Windows Vista password dialog keeps coming up
Hi, I have come to my wits end again (lately, it's a very short trip). I have been trying to connect to Samba 3.0.21b but Windows keeps throwing up the logon dialog. I'm using "Map network drive" to try to mount this share. It seems the problem is only on the Windows side since I have tested the connection through the Unix account. Both user id and password work fine.

Vista and "System error 53 has occurred"
Hi, Problem: Out of the blue Vista on my laptop decides it doesn't want to mount a share over PPTP VPN connection. I can mount the share in the local network but I can't do it over VPN. When trying to access the server, using "net view \\172.16.1.71" it shows the error in the subject. Platform/Versions: OS: Sun Solaris 10 11/06 release Samba version:

samba 3 b3 and nt accounts
Okidokey things are flying here However I am a domain admin and as such when I logon to a win 2k/xp system I should be able to access the system stuff (like changing the domain) as well as certify a new machine to the domain. With the Samba user however I log onto the machine now and no longer have my admin rights to change settings :c( (I hate this quirk of xp/2k it's almost enough reason

flac metadata
So I've just ripped my entire 600 CD collection to flac format (200gigs worth) with vorbis comments in the flac metadata. But my gripe is that neither Winamp nor XMMS's flac plug-ins seem to have the ability to read the vorbis comment from the metadata. Are there any flac players for windoze or linux that can access the metadata? Or do i have to add redundant ID3 tags to all my flac

What NAS device(s) do you use? And why?
If you use any NAS (or a SAN) devices, what do you use? And I'm referring more to larger scale network storage than your home PC or home theater system. We've had very good experiences with our NetGear ReadyNAS devices but I'm in the market for something new. The NetGear's aren't the cheapest ones around but they do what it says on the box. My only real gripe with them is the

Problems with Dovecot and self-signed cert
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've recently set up a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 WS server, and decided to try using Dovecot as my IMAP server, as I was impressed with the dedication to security that seems to be the core development goal. I'm really happy with it, but I can't get it to work with a self-signed cert. Normally, on a RHEL system, you just go into

Sun Fire X4200 M2 / CentOS 5 APIC issues
I had been running CentOS 5 happily on my Sun Fire X4200 M2 systems, then I upgraded the BIOS and iLOM firmware. Now I'm running into what seems to be a fairly common problem with newer motherboards. I cannot boot unless I use the 'noapic' kernel option. If I try to boot the kernel normally, I get the error: "MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC" I can

[LLVMdev] Thread local storage and PowerPC
Hi all friends of PowerPC! My last gripe hindering me calling out "VICTORY!" on my large PPC embedded project is thread level storage not being implemented in the backend. I have filed this bug: http://llvm.org/PR12593 I wonder whether there is some fundamental obstacle (compared to the x86 backend, where this feature seems to work), or is it just "simple matter of

USB
I have been migrating from WinXP to Ubuntu Linux, and all but one of my essential applications can be accommodated. The exception in the PC Sync software for my mobile phone, which I need to download photos to the computer. The setup disc runs under WINE, but the sync screen does not work, presumably because USB drivers cannot be set up (the phone memory is not accessible from Windows Explorer, so

MockCov: Proof of concept
Hey list, RSpec is great, I''ve been using it at work for a couple of months now. One gripe I have is that I find it hard to know exactly to what extent my code is covered by the specs. I am aware of RCov and Heckle; they''re great, but I''d like to demonstrate another perspective of coverage analysis I''ve hacked up. The perspective is that of what is mocked and

VLAN issue
Andrew and Dennis are spot on. Their conclusions about your server being connected to an access port and not a trunk port would be my conclusion as well. PXELINUX: how to debug initrd corruption?
Hi All, I have a system, that, ~80% of the time, fails to properly boot using pxelinux.0 as provided by RHEL 5.5 (syslinux 3.11, I think). The gripe, before the console messages stop, is a message that comes from the linux kernel complaining the compressed ram drive image is bad: "invalid compressed format (err=[small number])". I have two questions: 1. How should I go about

Roaming Profiles - the next step
Thanks to the enthuiastic help of Mr. Dan Shearer and the excellent writings of John H. Terpstra (Samba-3 by Example) I have migrated an NT4 PDC to Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4 (Cries of amazement) The clients (XP, NT4WS, Win2K, 98 and 95) didn't notice the switch (once I had made all the correct folders!) My questions now are fine tuning and filling in gaps in my Windows knowledge.

Sun x4200 vs. Xen
Has anyone successfully managed to get Xen working on a Sun x4200? I am trying to boot the Xen kernel after installation from RPM on a clean RHEL ES 4 update 3 installation and it is frozen/hanging/hardware lock on "PCI: Using configuration type 1". Any ideas are much appreciated. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com

ANOVA Table for Full Linear Model?
Hello, I have spent a good deal of time searching for an answer to this but have come up empty-handed; I apologize if I missed something that is common knowledge. I am trying to figure out how to get an ANOVA table that shows the sum of squares. degrees of freedom, etc, for the full model versus the error (aka residuals). Here is an example of the kind of table I'd like to get:

puppet-lint -- learning stuff about style but also generating questions
Here''s one I learned: I originally had # Ensure /etc/hosts contains the basics host { "${fqdn}": host_aliases => $hostname, ip => $ipaddress, } And thru some trial and error, got down to this (which puppet-lint does not gripe about) # Ensure /etc/hosts contains the basics host { $fqdn: host_aliases => $hostname, ip => $ipaddress, }
