idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains?
In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child
domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to
the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain.
When attempting to lookup a user (wbinfo -i 'NAU\car3') that only exists

nss_winbind / offline logon
Hello list users,
I have been struggling to make my AD integrated Debian Lenny box to work fluently also when network connectivity is down. What I would like to achieve:
1) When no network available, local user should still work normally
2) If possible, AD located users should still be able to login if they have previously logged in successfully (cached login)
Number 2 is more like optional,

Windows 2008 pdc troubles
We are in the process of upgading our windows 2003 pdc's to windows
2008Rr2. No problem there, but our samba/winbind clients are beginning
to show some strange behaviour.
In the beginning we saw a lot of messages appear in the logfiles.
Example :

Domain User access control in the smb.conf
Hi All
My system is Freebsd 5.4 and Samba 3.0.21a. I am using ADS for system
security. In my smb.conf, I create a share like that.
[Test2]
comment = Test
path = /usr/tmp/
valid users = @"Domain Admins",@"Domain\myaccount"
The domain administrator can access the share folder, but I can't. It
keeps asking me the username and password.
The samba is

winbind and smb tries to auth as pdc$ rather than local name when using ADS
Hi all,
I've been working on getting Samba to authenticate via ADS for the
past few weeks with some lack of success. I had somewhat of a
breakthrough the other day realizing that the problem was related to
the kerberos authentication between Samba and the Win 2008 R2 AD
server. Trying to fix this I generated a keytab with ktpass which I
uploaded to the server.
I've been successful to

wbinfo returns no domain users
Hi,
I've spent two days trying to figure out how to solve this,
researching on the web, etc, and found no answer... :S
I've setup a Ubuntu 9.04 with Samba and Winbind, joined the domain
(using RPC) and when I try to list users and groups using wbinfo I got
nothing.
I already tryed deleting tdb files from /var/lib/samba and restarting
samba and winbind, joined the domain again,

ntlm_auth and Server 2008 issues
We are having the same Samba issue as noted here:
http://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2009-November/msg00664.html
Has anybody on this list experienced this " \NETLOGON fnum 0xareturned
critical error. Error was NT_STATUS_PIPE_DISCONNECTED" error? This
wasn't happening until our AD admin upgraded the AD servers to windows
server 2008 R2.
Also, I see this

Winbind panic - bug #5551 not completely solved in version 3.0.31?
I started my AD-member server with the DC not being present.
Afterwards, I executed the "good practice" sequence from the howtos for
testing a installation:
"testparm ..."
"nmblookup -d ..."
"nmblookup -M ..."
"nmblookup __SAMBA__ ..."
"smbclient -L ..."
And some domain tests:
"net ads testjoin"
"net ads lookup"

resolve KDC network address error
Hello Samba-List-Users
I have a problem with KDC network name resolution. I tried to google it
and sought help on IRC#samba, to no avail. So I'll post my problem here.
In the spirit of privacy and normalization all server names in this post
are replaced. CAPTIAL server names are actually capitalized in the
configuration files.
Setup:

s3 winbind loosing kerbers ticket
I have 2 CentOS 5.6 x86_64 servers configured with with samba 3.5.4,
CTDB, GFS and DRDB in an avtive, active cluster. After some time winbind
looses the ticket. After this I have to do a net ads join on the server

have 2 more samba 4 DC's that I use for backup authentication only that
run on debian 6 that are a VM. Not

security = server, 3.0.25b
Hello, all
Just attempted upgrade from 3.0.23c to 3.0.25b and had to revert.
We have 2 Samba servers, one as a security = user machine, the
second as a slave off the first, using security = server and
password server = first server.
Nothing fancy in the config. I can get to my home on the second
server, but other mapped drives are giving me a user/password
prompt that 3.0.23c

KSM failure on Xen 4.0.1/FC 13
Greetings Xen Users,
I am trying to bring up xen-4.0.1-0.1.rc4.fc13 on an up to date FC 13 Dell Precision 690. For dom0, I am using the 2.6.32.17 PVOPS kernel. Xen boots and the kernel boots until it reaches a point where KSM fails (as it should, since KSM is compiled out) but hangs, because it cannot find /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/sleep_millisecs and friends. I have booted the kernel on bare metal (KSM

Accessing member server prompts for credentials
Hi,
I'm trying to join a server as an AD member but it isn't working.
I do:
kinit ADMINISTRATOR@DOMAIN1.CO.UK
which prompts for the password and displays nothing else. Then I do:
net ads join -U Administrator%XXXXX
which returns:
Using short domain name -- DOMAIN1
Joined 'SERVER1' to realm 'DOMAIN1.CO.UK'
So all looks OK, but when I try to browse the shares on

Erratic / unstable PDC
Greetings all,
I have a problem with my Samba server seeming to hang for 10
seconds every 5 minutes or so. Client machines also become
sluggish across the entire network during this period. It
does not seem to affect file transfers that are in progress.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
