Fwd: Net groupmap list puzzler
Hi, I think at first you have to do a net groupmap add all the well known Groups. System Operators (S-1-5-32-549) -> -1 Replicators (S-1-5-32-552) -> -1 Guests (S-1-5-32-546) -> -1 Domain Users (S-1-5-21-3732367786-856876144-3282938955-513) -> -1 Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-3732367786-856876144-3282938955-512) -> -1 Power Users (S-1-5-32-547) -> -1 Domain Guests

ldapsam with user level security
Hi, Everything I can find about using the ldapsam backend seems to imply that samba will be used as a domain controller. Is it possible to use ldapsam as the backend and have just a user level security workgroup? Thanks. Craig

Sync unix and samba passwords
Hi, We have an Exchange server (server 2003) that is a domain controller and a few Samba file servers that are not part of the Windows domain. The Samba servers use their own LDAP directory ( ldapsam backend with pam_ldap ) that is synchronized to one openldap directory server but is not synchronized to the Windows domain AD. The workstations are all local accounts and not members of any domain

rsync incremental backup probs
I am having a problem with implementing a slight modification of the "backup to a central backup server with 7 day incremental" example from <http://rsync.samba.org/examples.html>. When rsync runs, I end up getting stat errors that the file doesn't exist in the backup-dir location. The backup server is running rsyncd, and without the --backup and --backup-dir options set, I

Puma fails when it restarts itself
I''m having an issue with Puma, it fails when it tries to restart itself. When this happens it kills all the Puma processes, resulting in nginx delivering a 502 Bad Gateway to our users. I''m able to start, stop & restart it with my /etc/init.d/puma script (it runs /usr/local/bin/run-puma), it just has issues when it restarts itself. The puma.log file doesn''t

Gathering EventLog Information from a remote server or workstation
Hi everyone, I've recently begun looking into ways of automating the monitoring of all my servers. Whilst most of the Linux/BSD stuff is sorted, I am having more difficulties gathing the details of the Windows Boxes. The main source of problems is how to retrieve the event log details from a remote machine. During my research I came across some old mailling list articules in 1999 regarding

Dear All, I have recently setup a completely new AD domain on my Linux server, running Samba 4.8.3. From the server, I can authenticate via kerberos and get users and groups through winbind etc. When I try to join a freshly installed Mac running macOS 10.13.6, I receive the error: "Unable to add server. Hi, i need help with strange problem. I installed Fedora 28 to test Samba 4 AD DC with MIT Kerberos with Windows 10 and Windows 7 clients and i can't run GPOs for machines. GPOs for users works. Samba4 and NVSv4
Short story: cannot get Kerberized NFSv4 to work. I've googled a great deal and cannot find where I have goofed (and there sure is a lot of misleading and just plain incorrect information out there), so would appreciate another pair of eyes. NFSv4 without Kerberos does work fine, as does ID mapping. We're using NFSv4 in production with sec=sys, but I'm not happy with that. My
