Hi,
first online backup works, but why some parts are missing?
Online:
root# samba-tool domain backup online --targetdir=/mnt/backup/online/

Backup created 2019-Jun-18 11:04:19
Using samba-tool version: Samba 4.10.2
Domain online backup, using DC 'DOMAIN'
Backup for domain DOMAIN (NetBIOS), DOMAIN (DNS realm)

Hi,

You can see, passwd program _is_ /usr/bin/passwd %u

Samba 4 DC backups
Here's what I do before tar'ring:
find / -mount -type d -path /etc/samba-JMF -prune -o -name \*.tdb -exec tdbbackup {} \;
find / -mount -name \*.tdb.bak -exec ls -l {} \; # (log .bak updates)
This gets all the tdb files on the root filesystem, excluding mounted drived
(-mount) and excluding tdb files I have in /etc/samba-JMF which is an old
installation folder that I should probably

Samba 4 DC backups
Mike,
I thought I pretty much did the same thing as the backup script: backup ldb, do
tar. Also, I am stopping Samba for good measure, but I don't think I need to.
What makes you say I'm doing the "exact opposite" of what the samba script does?
Please explain, I want to be consistent with good practice.

Sysvol replication between DC
Hi,
I have followed the guidelines outlined in the article:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory#Built-in_User_.26_Group_ID_Mappings
.
I had a doubt:
When I ran the tdbbackup -s .bak command idmap.ldb which is 2MB generated a
720k-sized idmap.ldb.bak file.
I have stopped the samba service on CD 2, replaced the idmap.ldb file with
idmap.ldb.bak,

3.0.8pre2 and tdbackup
Hi @all,
backing up and verifying _printing_ databases uses 20-96% cpu and takes a long time (there are only few entries and smbd and nmbd were not running):
for i in /var/lock/samba/?*.tdb /var/lock/samba/printing/?*.tdb /etc/?*.tdb
do
date
echo $i.samba.bak
rm -f $i.samba.bak
tdbbackup -s .samba.bak $i

Samba 4 DC backups
Mark
Ok so you doing the exact opposite of what the samba_backup script does
with regards to ldb and tdb files, but then you are shutting down Samba
to do a backup anyway so it doesn't really matter what you are doing in
this regard.
I want a consistent backup while Samba is running.
Regards
Mike

User migration issues
I've been looking throught the archives for a set of things to be done to
migrate a install with samba 3.2.5 (lenny) to another server (wheezy)
I can cope with the name change, that's no problem, but I'd like to avoid
having to recreate the users on the new server, so far I tried this,
without much success
- scp the smb.conf to the new server
- make hot backups
cd /var/lib/samba

Samba4 LDAP LDB Indexes
I have a system running Samba 4 Alpha 11, and I seem to have a corrupted LDB
file in my directory. (Probably the result of taking a backup without using
tdbbackup). Right now, running tdbbackup on the file produces an error
message similar to the following:
Failed to insert into DC=WWW,DC=EXAMPLE,DC=COM.ldb.bak.tmp
failed to copy DC=WWW,DC=EXAMPLE,DC=COM.ldb
If I run
ldbsearch -H
