joining samba 3.0.25b on aix to a native w2k domain
Hi, I've compiled Samba 3.0.25b on an AIX 5.2 machine without any hassle (also without ADS / Kerberos Support!) but getting it to join our AD domain is a true PITA. The AIX machine is called NLXDRZ05, the domain D-REIZEN.INTRA (could also be D-REIZEN, I'm a Unix guy, not an NT guy and I usually leave that stuff to the people that know what they're doing) I've had a machine

Samba 3.0.25b on centos 5.1 a lot of signal 11 very unstable!!!
Hi. We add a new virtual machine with vmware server 1.0.4, centos 5.x client, we update the server with yum and receive samba 3.0.25b-1.el5_1.4, we have a PDC running Gentoo with Samba 3.0.24+ldap, all the windows clients and other Linux boxes(.3.0.10 + 3.0.23 + 3.0.24) are working very good and stable. The only problem is this new server, i read about some changes with samba 3.0.25b and

At first I could fix this by restarting winbind, but then came times when I was

Problem joining domain.
Hi all, I'm trying to join several RHEL 4.7 based machines (Samba 3.0.28) to our domain here. I'm trying to do this via the net rpc commands as this has typically worked fine in the past (iow: not doing net ads join). My smb.conf is as follows: [global] workgroup = DOMAIN netbios name = RHEL47TEST security = DOMAIN log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log max log size = 500 wins

Unable to join domain: FAIDHC01SDCG0402
Hi. I am trying to configure Samba in Domain security mode. I am on a Sun box running Solaris 9 and Samba 3.0.23. A computer account for this Unix Box is configured in the AD Domain (FAFIDDOM) but I am having issues running net rpc join. I am not planning to use winbind as the samba shares that I want to create are going to be used by ClearCase (Rational Configuration Management Tool). ClearCase

Can't get 3.0.23d from SuSE RPM to be a member in an NT4 domain
Been working with Samba back to 1.9 or so, but this is the first time I've tried to set it up as a domain member server. I followed (I think) the instructions on how to do this in TOSHARG (which are about as disjointed as the book, which I took back), but I continue to be unable to get the box, running winbind, to reliably authenticate users off the PDC, which is running NT4 (and I'm not

Linux & Windows clients domain join - Error: NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
Sorry, I'll try this again. It appears the email got stripped out and left the attachment. ------------------------ I'm having an issue where any machine refuses to join the domain. It's a a Debian server(lenny) with an LDAP backend. I assume the issue is something obvious, but this is an "inherited" network and based on the state of the rest of it, the issue could be

Sometimes users can't connect to the samba shares
Hello, Hope you can help us out with a problem with samba / winbind; We have samba 3.0.21c with winbind running on an RHEL 4 server. This runs quite stable for more than a year now. But since the lasts weeks it appears that sometimes our users can't connect to the samba shares. I suspect that this problem has something to do with the integration of samba (winbind) with the Microsoft

winbind-client: irregular "Connection reset by peer" errors when using Win 2003 server
Hello! I've integrated samba into an existing NT Domain managed by a windows 2003 server. Recently I'm have trouble to use the "groups" command get the group of domain users. It worked well for weeks (but perhaps after setting up an ldap-connection to the same server via the apache2 module auth_ldap), there are irregular connection-losses, so winbind seems not to be able to

Winbindd and idletimeout on the LDAP server
Hi We have a problem with samba (winbind) when we enable idletimeout on the OpenLDAP servers. If it is set we sometimes get an error: mhansen@scenic32:~> smbclient -Umhansen //cups/p6 Password: session setup failed: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT The log entries (log.wb-DOMAIN)on the DOMAIN MEMBER server (cups in this case) are: [2006/11/20 14:24:07, 0] rpc_client/cli_pipe.c:rpc_api_pipe(790)

group mapping on a member server - winbindd and solaris 10
>From what I can tell it does look as if I have to run winbindd on member servers, even if NIS is used, to get SID's mapping consistently across the domain. The PDC is Samba 3.025a on Solaris 10. Two member servers are Samba 3.025a on solaris 9. If i start winbindd on a memv, the "wbinfo -u" and "wbinfo -g" commands show my users and groups. However, the

Winbindd periodical timeout issue
Hey, I've got an issue with winbindd seeming to periodically fail to resolve user/group names from an AD setup. I'm getting the following error, the error seems to occur when I try to access a the samba server OR a directory that uses AD dependent ACLs/permissions. The server will stall for around 30-40 seconds and then it all seems to work perfectly (though I haven't yet determined

Domain authentication not working
Hi all. I'm trying to share a printer out via samba, and it's suddenly stopped working. Samba says it's connecting to the DC, but then returning NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER. It wasn't doing this earlier today. I haven't changed anything in the top half of the smb.conf file ... only the print-related stuff. Any ideas? The log is saying: [2007/05/21 11:40:26, 3]

net rpc query
Hi. I'm using samba-3.0.24 on a gentoo box. The samba machine is configured as a domain member server within a MS Windows 2003 active directory. It has been successfully joined to the domain and everything works, shares, kerberos, ldap. However, I cannot get nested groups to work, or more precisely, I cannot add a local group using net rpc. Here is what I am doing: gentoo ~ # net rpc

Problem with 'net rpc group delmem' command
Hello everyone, I've been setting up Samba as a PDC with good success so far. I've run into one problem though, and that's removing users from groups using the 'net' utility. I seem to be able to add users to groups just fine using something similar to the following: net rpc group addmem "Domain Admins" bob If I then type: net rpc group members "Domain

Sanity check my setup....
This is my first step into the world of samba and I was wondering if the members of the group wouldn't mind casting a quick eye on my setup. Essentially we just want Samba integrated with AD so we can access the Unix file systems. Any comment will be gratefully received...! Cheers, Kristian Everything seems to work, although we do get these errors: [2008/08/08 11:41:13, 1]

NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT
Samba occasionally fails with the following. I have seen many questions regarding this but no answers unfortunately. I am wondering what the setting is where I can increase this time out value of 10000 milliseconds in case that specific request is just slow. This is called many times a day and only just occasionally fails. I have looked through the entire manual for smb.conf and can't find a
