Different domains
Can users/computer be part of different Domains? I've noticed that the user/computer needs that DC Sid in it. I would like for users/computers to be part of different Domains at any given time. Is this possible and how within the same ldap entry.

Debugging samba/winbind SMB share
Hi, I had an active-directory authentication based samba system up and running, working well. However, I tried to access an SMB share on the server a few days back and just get a windows login user/password prompt. I'm trying to debug why theres a "system error". PAM is configured for pam_winbind.so in /etc/pam.d/system-auth, and I can ssh into the system using a domain

Windows Vista password dialog keeps coming up
Hi, I have come to my wits end again (lately, it's a very short trip). I have been trying to connect to Samba 3.0.21b but Windows keeps throwing up the logon dialog. I'm using "Map network drive" to try to mount this share. It seems the problem is only on the Windows side since I have tested the connection through the Unix account. Both user id and password work fine.

The samba server is a ADS member of this windows 2k3 server and user's access log is recorded by using the audit module. I recently came into this trouble, when I connect to samba server from client, the smbd_audit suddenly got panic. Please advise me how to solve this

accessing samba over the internet with dreamweaver
Hello, I've got a friend who publishes his site via dreamweaver. He connects to his site via a samba share and opens and saves files. Now the sites have tempoarily relocated. I'm wanting him to still be able to access his site files with his dreamweaver over the internet. Is this doable with either samba, directly through dreamweaver, or something else? This needs to be as simple

Populating the samba/ldap database
I'm working on getting Samba3 running in a RHEL4 environment. The components are; samba3-3.0.28-35 openldap-2.2.13-8.el4_6.4 smbldap-tools-0.9.4-1.el4.rf I already have a working and functional ldap installation. The rub is that the existing ldap accounts do not have any samba specific attributes. Samba by Example assumes that I'm initially creating an ldap database, where the

Removing display of domain
Greetings. I am running Samba 3.0.23d on Gentoo and am in the process of joining it to the AD domain as I have done with numerous other servers. The last item that I am working on that is bugging the crud out of me is that I have "winbind use default domain = yes", but when using wbinfo -[u|g] or getent [passwd|group] I still see the domain portion of the user/group account listed.

Samba 3.0.2a + Win2K clients: unreliable share access
After upgrading from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2a, accessing a shared folder has become unreliable: after being able to access my shares for some time I get an error message "No domain contoller was available" (actually, I'm paraphrasing that one, I unfortunately did not record it verbatim). Host linux log contains the following error message for each access: Mar 5 20:07:08 sharesmb01
