[samba pdc] serverbased profiles doesnt load at winxp login
ive installed samba 3 on a debian 4, the samba server should act like a pdc. at the moment it work that user can login on my clients (all windows xp pro sp2), the homedrive is mapped corretly, the only thing that doesn't work, is that the serverbased profile is saved automatically on the server, so that the user can downlad the profile at login. here is my smb.conf: [global]

RPC Error with PC Netlink - some additional info
Some additional info: The solaris server is Solaris 10 (sparc.) According to man smb.conf, "enable asu support = yes" creates an IPC only "ADMIN$" share. Using the computer management tool from a Windows machine I could verify this was the case. However, the "ADMIN$" share on the PC Netlink server is actually a data share. I did try "enable asu support =

Strange file permissions
Hi I have a samba server with tdbsam passwords, and a share, PROJECTS, which is accessed by various XP home clients, the usenames and passwords being manually synced to the samba ones (less than 10 users, and only 4 workstations). There is one win2K machine, which is a domain member. Subdirectories on PROJECTS have g+s set, so only users, who are members of specific Linux groups, have access to

Username/Password not passed to Samba
Hi all, Using Samba 3.0.0beta3 on FreeBSD 4.9 and a WinXP SP1 client. I was able to join the domain with the WinXP machine, but I cannot log-on. The Windows error message is about the domain server not found, no machine account, etc. I set the log level to 3 and received the following output when I tried to log-on: "[2004/01/27 20:00:00, 3] smbd/sec_ctx.c:push_sec_ctx(256)

OT: permission denied when opening PDF docs with Acrobat Reader X potected mode
Hi, this might be off topic because it's not a samba problem, but might be interesting for others too. We are running an older samba 3.0.24 working as domain controller (no DFS features). When opening a .pdf file with the Acrobat Reader X from a WinXP SP3 client (maschine is member of the domain) the Acrobat Reader X shows a "permission denied". We see the following in the samba

Connection gets closed after just a few seconds "smbd/service.c:close_cnum(1150)"
I'm testing the AIX binaries for 3.0.24 and have run into a problem. Depending on how I map the share (using: \\[IP, hostname or FQDN]\[sharename]) then the connection to the server is closed after just a few seconds of inactivity. The server runs on AIX5.3 with the latest fixpack. The client is Win XP SP2. I'm currently using 3.0.22 on our production server and don't have this

interdomain trusts / wbinfo and listent_recv: returned no users
As per earlier post, I was having problems getting trusts setup between my Samba domain (3.0.x PDC, 3.4.x BDC on Solaris 10) and two Active Directory domains (each in a separate forest.) One domain is a test Win 2003 PDC in native Win 2003 mode, the other is a Win 2008 system also in native Win 2003 mode. To summarize some of the progess- things work better if the Samba 3.4 is the PDC,

[3.0.23d] Subdirectories of share root appear empty (sometimes)
Hi. We're having a bit of a strange problem with Samba, and we're hoping someone might be able to offer some good advice as it's exhausted our ideas. Thanks. Our office has a SUSE Linux box that we use as a fileserver, using Samba to expose it to our Windows machines, in the form of three shares. Sometimes (it's inconsistent but seems to happen several times a week), one of our

Cannot login from windows
I've been reading all over and I think I've tried everything except the right way, but I cannot seem to login to my samba server from windows. I am using Samba 3.0.33 on Linux as the server, and have Linux, windows XP, and Windows Vista clients. I am only on a home network so I don't have a need for fancy stuff, I am just setting up a means for filesharing besides ssh. I can

Hello list, I upgraded from Samba3.0.1 to Samba3.0.2rc1 and got now following problems: LaserJet printers 6MP (sorry, we have no other LaserJet printermodels) now couse the application to crash. With Samba3.0.1 there was no probem with that kind of Printers. I use the RPM's from ftp.sernet.de for SLES8. Printingsystem is CUPS, with raw printing and serverbased printerdrivers. Has anyone

Authentication problems after upgrading to 3.0.23c
Hi there, Since upgrading our debian sarge boxes to 3.0.23c, we have found that we are unable to connect to shares using the official hostname of the servers (short or fully qualified) but can still use its netbios aliases (again, short or fully qualified). As nothing else has changed in our configuration, I think that the change of behaviour is down to the newer release and can find nothing in

Vista error 67 The network name cannot be found
This is a repost. Original sent last Friday afternoon received no response. Any ideas would be appreciated. Should I try Samba 4? =-=-=-=-= I have a server which will accept a file sharing connection from a FreeBSD workstation using smbclient, but not from a Vista workstation. The server also performs as a NAT gateway. Upstream network configuration is by DHCP (dhclient), the downstream side is

Samba3.5 + OpenLDAP config/install problem
System Summary: centos 6.2 samba 3.5 smbldap-tools 0.9.6 openldap 2.4.23 Hello, I am installing smb 3.5 on a CentOS 6.2 host using smbldap-tools. I've previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4 using smb 3.0 but CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations cannot be moved straight across. Currently, when I attempt to connect to an smb share

Joining domain works - logging in doesn't
I'm building a replacement samba 3.5.6 domain controller to replace an old 3.0 one. Some other things are changing too. Our user accounts are now in LDAP rather than flat files (although the machine trust accounts will remain in a flat file), but that should be hidden from samba as it's going to be done through NSS. The smbpasswd file is a TDB file and will remain so. Our users

I suppose it has something to do with the passwords (I'm trying to sync Samba and Linux passwords). Any ideas? /Andreas
