We have been running Samba 2.2.x for some time without problems. Servers are Solaris 2.7 and RH Linux. Clients are a mix of WinNTsp4 and Win2K. Server setting is for plaintext (un-encryted passwords). On upgrading the Samba server to 3.0.0, (smb.conf file unchanged): All WinNt clients fail to authenticare. Request for credential for just one user on one specific machine when using FQDN
Hi, I have deployed a new file server (Samba version 4.6.2, CentOS 7) which is running as a member of an AD domain (The DCs are both Windows server 2012, forest and domain level is 2012 as well). I'm using the AD backend to store SID/UID mappings. So everything is working fine except for one specific user on one specific workstation (Windows 10) who can only access the file server with

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi, based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous. Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange errors: When I try to launch an EXE from

Unable to browse Samba share by hostname from certain clients...
Dear Help, I am having a very odd problem. For some reason, I am able to browse to my Samba share by IP address but not by host name from Windows 2008 servers in a particular domain (the same domain the Samba server belongs to). However, I am able to browse by host name from XP clients as well as Windows 2008 servers in a different domain. Even stranger, if I add an alias (using the netbios

Trouble with ldapsam on OpenBSD
I'm trying to setup a basic Samba 3 domain with LDAP on OpenBSD. When using the ldapsam passdb, the smbd processes terminate. I've poured over the log files and tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot it. The odd thing I've noticed is that if I start smbd and don't cause any network connections to it for about 20 minutes, then it works perfectly. I'm really hoping that

pdc+ldap newly created users can't log in
I am facing a very strange problem with samba running as PDC and using LDAP. The new users that I create using smbldap-tools aren't able to log in, but they can browse shares on the server. I had the problem with samba 2.2 and hoped it would be solved with 3.0. I spent two days testing without success even with samba 3.0.2pre1. In the log I can't see anything wrong : it says "sam
