Powerpoint file locking issue
Hello,
We've been seeing a problem with Samba server 3.0.33-0.17 handling lock
files for Microsoft Powerpoint 2007. The problem is observed in both
Windows XP and Windows Vista.
If a user opens an existing file, smbstatus looks like this:

net rpc vampire is sucking my brain!
Trying to migrate NT4 to samba 3.0.0 or 3.0.1pre3 with an ldap backend.
I add a backup server account to the domain and joined. Getting the SID
and the ldap init seem to work, and I start windbind. When I run net rpc
vampire all I get is a ton of "Could not create posix account info for "
errors. Then ofcourse pdbedit -L returns smbldap_search_suffix: Problem

Slow Samba
I am running a Snap 4200 fileserver, which is a network appliance that
uses Samba to share files on a windows network.
I've been experiencing slow performance on the Snap. The issue started
suddenly 5 to 6 weeks ago, so I don't think it's a performance-related
problem. I SSHed into the unit and noticed some odd errors in the samba
event logs. They look something like this:

seeking a help on if function
Hello r helpers! Below is the whole coding for my programme. Before proceed more further, let me explain for you. First of all, I need to compute trimmed mean. Till that step is ok. Then I need to compute ssdw which is sum of square deviation. If I do equal trimming at both tail of distribution that I chose, I will use the first ssd formulae which is "a". But if I am doing unequal

scp problems?
Hi. So I have been having problems using scp to copy
files between two of my machines, both of which are running OpenSSH
2.30p1 (though I've had the same problem with previous versions).
It is basically as simple as the file not being transferred after
authentication occurs. I can however use scp to copy files back and
forth from another machine using a SSH Communications version

Access denied for samba share
Hi,
we have a stange problem here since samba 4.12. Users on specific
clients are not allowed to access a share after reboot of the client and
in very rare cases suddenly during use. When we restart the smb service
after the access denied message on the client for a share, the user is
allowed to access the share. So there seems no problem with permissions.
Are there any known reasons for

Using iproute2 to bond two Internet lines for a webserver.
I am relatively new to iproute2. Any information on the topic below would
save me considerable time. I appreciate any help, thanks.
We want to plug two lines into a webserver to increase the bandwidth
available to the hosted sites. Rather than use round-robin DNS we would
prefer to use iproute2 to use equal cost routing across the two lines.
However, I am still not sure how well that will

routing based on user id
Hi all!
I''ve got 2 (soon 3) internet connection. 1 - via ADSL, 2(and3) via ppp
My network:
http://desima.objectis.net/network-diag
linux1:
user1.user2
eth0=192.168.1.1
ppp0=192.168.5.2( gw 192.168.5.1)
gw=192.168.1.2 ( thru ADSL)
compA=192.168.1.6
compB=192.168.1.15
gw2=192.168.1.217 via ppp to different ISP
All works for compA and CompB,
user1 should use default gw(192.168.1.2)

Wierd traceroute/routing problem
Hello,
I''m having a very strange problem concerning traceroute and routing
and didn''t know if lartc or netfilter would be the correct choice for
asking. (so sorry if my question is misplaced)
I have the following setup:
public ip -- gw1 -- 172.16.0.1 --- 172.16.0.2/and public ip''s --- gw2
--- switch --users (public and private ip addresses; ip-user-pub)

survval analysis microarray expression data
For any given pre-specified gene or short list of genes, yes the Cox
model works fine. Two important caveats:
1. Remeber the rule of thumb for a Cox model of 20 events per variable
(not n=20). Many microarray studies will have very marginal sample
size.
2. If you are looking at many genes then a completely different strategy
is required. There is a large and growing literature; I like Newton

Please help: The process of am-utils map key lookup
Hi,
I am using am-utils(amd binary daemon) to auto mount home directories. the mounting process seems working fine but I am still not understand how the amd map key(s) lookup process works.
I've carefully read the am-utils(amd) document at http://am-utils.org/docs/am-utils/am-utils_8.html, especially the chapter "3.2 How keys are looked up" but am still not clear. For example,

consolidate three function into one
That is certainly OK, but you can also just use
print(ggsurvplot(...))
as your final statement.
out <- RFS( ...)
would then return the ggsurvplot object *and* graph it.
Any good R tutorial or a web search will provide more details on function
returns, which you might find useful.
Cheers,

consolidate three function into one
Thank you, your suggestion is simpler and logically better. I had impression that the last object in a function gets returned, so I did not add the print function at the bottom line of the function definition. Returning an object and graph the object are different process, I am a beginner for writing R function and need to find a good guide source about writing R functions. If you know a good

flexsurvspline with offset
Dear all,
I am using R 4.4.0 via RStudio (2024.04.0) on a Windows PC. The code below worked on the previous version of the flexsurv but is not working since my recent update (version 2.3).
The code that was working is:
library(survival)
rfs <- pmax(rotterdam$recur, rotterdam$death)
rfstime <- with(rotterdam, ifelse(recur==1, rtime, dtime))
fit1 <- flexsurvspline(Surv(rfstime, rfs) ~

ip rule, fwmark, mangle and src IP
I made a script to test if in a moultiple gateway setup all default
connection are up, regardless of the fact that that gateway is the default
gw.
Suppose adsl1 and adsl2 are present, and all traffic goes by default to
adsl1, and you want to test if adsl2 is ok.
1. I use mangles from iptables to mark icmp packets to some test machines
2. I set up a routing table for each adsl
3. I use
