MySQL authentication & kickoff time?
Hiya. I'm in the middle of (re)developing a authentication system for an internet cafe here in Sydney. By complete accident I discovered the PDB MySQL plugin for samba yesterday in CVS - amazing. Haven't tried this yet (waiting for samba to compile on a really slow machine, heh) but it looks great. Is anybody using this? Would you recommend it for use in a heavy use type

changing kickoff time
Hello everybody, we moved our samba server to a new machine. This included changing the samba version from 3.024 to 3.4.2 and changing the OS from Linux to Opensolaris. Samba was compiled from scratch. Passdb Backend is tdb. After the upgrade everything works fine......except: Some users can not login, due to an expired account. Further investigation showed that the "Kickoff Time"

Java Installation HowTo kickoff (JDK 1.4.2, 1.5 and 1.6)
I've started a Java Installation HowTo. Take a look: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfd4fncx_32gbthmp Give me feedback, please. The IBM JDK is the "easiest" on 1.4.2 and 1.5 versions. The Sun JDK 1.6 is probably the most optimized (and the only 1.6implementation by now), but doesn't integrate so good like IBM JDK's generated RPMs. The BEA's JPackage nosrcs are so much

Is there a howto for using redboot to kickoff a pxelinux boot?
The subject says it all. I'm using rocks cluster software to startup a small blade cluster in my lab. The blades I have redboot installed on them. I am able to boot any client that has pxeboot capability using my setup, except for these blades. My thoughs were using redboot commands to do the following: 1. load -v -r -b 0x8000000 -h 10.1.1.1 pxelinux.0 2. start This however caused my

Migration from 3.0.23d to 3.4.5 failed
Hi, I have a problem migrating Samba, users can't be authenticated. It always says "user unknown or incorrect password". I have low skills on Samba so I followed the official HOW-TO install step-by-step, but now I'm stucked. Everything works well on the (old) 3.0.23d Samba server. I can't add a machine to the workgroup using the admin account (administrator). I

Automatic logoff, kickoff time, etc.
Hello. I am in the process of setting up a home network where 2 of the users will be kids. Because of this, I have decided that it would be nice to have a login time restriction for thier XP workstations, as well as an automatic logoff time. This can be done with any Windows domain controller, and I've had halfway luck with Samba. What I've done so far... I've gotten Samba to use PAM

Row to Column help
Dear R Community, I am attempting to transpose a dataset from rows to columns but am stuck. I have tried using reshape() with little luck, possibly due to the categorical nature of the data. For example: id<-c(1,2,2,3,3,3) author<-c("j","k","k","l","l","l")

Some hint reading password expiration data...
In my current ''production'' NT-like domain (samba 4.2, OpenLDAP backend), password policies seems to ''get written'' to user data. EG, if i set: pdbedit -P "maximum password age" -C 7776000 and i change my password, 'Password must change' have a meningful value, eg 90 days more then the last password change: root at armitage:~# pdbedit -v
