Hi , guys: I have a problem on the openldap Manager account login : The server is running CentOS 5.3 i386 and I have phpldapadmin-1.0.1-1.el5.noarch.rpm installed . Can't join machines to a Samba PDC using LDAP
I've been trying to do this for days, and I think I'm really close. It's become one of those so-close-yet-so-far sorts of things. I'm running Gentoo -- all sync'ed up and current as of a week ago -- with the following package versions: openldap-2.1.30-r5 pam_ldap-178-r1 nss_ldap-239-r1 smbldap-tools-0.9.1-r1 phpldapadmin-0.9.5 (very cool, I must say!) samba-3.0.14a-r2

I must use debian etch or lenny. My server's IP is 192.168.9.10/24. I have set up a dns server (bind9) for my domain named "mik". It's a local domain for testing only. There is a piece of

Samba and LDAP: Trouble adding Win XP machines to the domain
Hi all, I am doing some research on Samba+OpenLDAP (+DHCP+DNS) with the intention of getting rid of the Micro$oft licenses necessary to maintain the Server products from such company. One of the aims I have is to demonstrate other people in my company that an open source alternative can work as well as (or even better than) a propietary solution. At the moment, I am getting desperated trying to

Problem adding computer to domain
Hi All I have the following problem: I'm using samba with ldap. Everybody can login on the domain, access shares and so on. But when I want to add a new computer to the domain, windows asks for a password (this is normal) and as ever we tried to login with root and the password. But unfortunately , now it says: can't find user. I check with phpldapadmin and I see the user root in the

/lib/tls.disabled or xen-friendly glibc?
Hi, until now I have run Xen with /lib/tls out of the way for both dom0 and domU''s, but now I''m trying to install OpenLDAP in a domU, which requires TLS as default. So now I have at least three options ahead of me: 1. mv /lib/tls.disabled back to /lib/tls and accept the performance penalty (is there any documentation on how heavy this penalty is?) 2. Compile OpenLDAP

GUI Front End for OpenLDAP admin (users & groups)
Does there exist a GUI Front End for OpenLDAP admin for CentOS 5 (RHEL 5)? The binary (i386) rpm for directory_adminstrator works just fine with CentOS 4, but does't install under CentOS 5 and the src RPM does not build (I hacked the spec file and did install the build deps, but it is using an old hack for finding libgnome (/usr/lib/gnomeConf.sh or something like that). I installed

Joining a Windows XP pc to Samba / LDAP domain
Hi, guys, I'm trying to create a PDC using Samba with an LDAP backend. According to all the guides I read, this should be fairly easy really, but I've done nothing else for the last week and it still doesn't work the way the manual says it should! As far as I can see, everything is set up and working correctly right up to the point when I try and join a machine to the domain.

HVM success story, now on server environment
I had the chance to test out one of the new Sun X2200 M2 servers for a week or so, aiming to check out the status of HVM support on these machines. The machine was a dual-Opteron dual-core, with 8GB RAM and 1 300GB SATA disk. Normally I tend to use Debian on my servers, but due to lack of needed hardware support on Debian x86_64 images, and because I had very few time to run the tests, I used an

Samba, OpenLDAP and Windows Vista
I have a Samba server set up to share files within a small network (with 2 clients) and I use OpenLDAP to store user accounts. I have pretty much got everything working (smbclient prints the correct information and I can browse and log into Samba via Nautilus) except I can't get the Vista client to connect to Samba, as it won't even prompt for a username and password it simply pops up

OpenLDAP migration from Centos 5 to 6
I'm moving my home network server from a Dell server, which has been having some mysterious problems, to an HP MicroServer. Everything - MySQL, OpenVPN, email (dovecot), httpd, etc - except for openLDAP, which is taking more time than everything else put together. I haven't found any straightforward instructions on this anywhere. The official RedHat document
