Upgrade from SLES9 3.0.20 to 3.0.26a breaks getent
All - This evening I attempted to catch up on security releases and upgraded from SLES9 3.0.20 to 3.0.26a and found that getent only returns local UNIX groups and users. We are using winbind to communicate with an NT domain. The server has been restarted and services are running. Using wbinfo -u and -g does provide NT domain groups and users as expected and net rpc testjoin result is OK. I have

samba 2.2.7 Install Errors on Slack 8.1
Slackware 8.1 comes standard with samba 2.2.4. However, I wanted to upgrade to 2.2.7 and tweak samba, so I uninstalled it using the Slack package manager (pkgtool). I'm now trying to install samba 2.2.7 which I downloaded from us6.samba.org. './configure' ran fine, as far as I could tell. However, 'make' is giving me some errors. I have not been able to find any mention of

The domain is controlled by a Win2000 server, the clients run WinXP and Win2000. here a short passage of one logfile: [2005/10/24

rc.firewall: default loopback rules are set up even for custom file
I've just realized that I see in releng/7 something that I did not see in releng/6 - even if I use a file with custom rules in firewall_type I still get default loopback rules installed. I think that this is not correct, I am using custom rules exactly because I want to control *everything* (e.g. all deny rules come with log logamount xxx). -- Andriy Gapon
