Saving files with MS Word to samba3 server is very slow!
Hi!
I'm currently hunting a strange problem and looking for help!
I have a samba3 fileserver (currently samba-3.0.20b, but problem can
be reproduced with samba-3.0.7, but _not_ with samba2 like 2.2.8a),
and I see performance problems when writing files with MS word 2002 SP3
from a NT4.0 (SP6a) workstation. Saving even the smallest file takes more
than 10 seconds! Copying files with Windows

Hi all,
I'm having a problem copying (overwriting) a dot file to a samba share.
When I create a dot file (e.g .project) on a local drive at the XP
machine, I'm able to copy the file to the share ONLY if it does not
exists there. If the file already exists, Samba refuses to overwrite the
file.
The reason of this behavior must have something

Problem After Upgrade - NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY
I'm running Samba 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. This is a recent upgrade and we've starting experience a sporadic problem after this upgrade.
When users are browsing through Windows Explorer they sometimes run across folders that appear as unassociated files. This requires the user to click the 'Refresh' button in Windows Explorer to properly see the folders. The files and folders are

I did now try many different drivers from different vendors none of them
worked thus I think there is something else wrong.
I then did some more tests, trying to find anything being

Problem with large files
Hi
we have samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD 5.4.
We tried with different kind of locking and oplocks (both enabled and
disabled).
If we try to copy from a Windows XP client a file larger than 3g, we get
these error:
Cannot copy XXX. The specified network name is no longer available.
We traced this problem in the logs (log level 10) and we got this error

Intermittent ACCESS DENIED
In a follow-up to a previous post a couple weeks back, we've implemented a
Samba 3.0.20 (Suse packages on 10.0 - recompiled to include idmap_rid)
server to replace the Windows 2000 file server in our Win2003 Active
Directory. For the most part things have been going well, but occassionally
people will get access denied errors to things that they were accessing just
fine minutes before. With

Hello,
We have a user that switched from Linux to Windows with his engineering software. Previously he was using NFS to access data and there were no performance complaints.
Now, with Windows, the same procedures take minutes instead of seconds.
I created some log files in Samba 4.10.16-25.el7_9 (recompiled with gpfs support and using the gpfs vfs module) with debuglevel 10 to see if

Access Denied to shares in Lotus Notes and Outlook
Hi All,
I don't know if this is a samba problem or not, but if users want to add
files as an attachment
in Lotus Notes and MS Outlook, and these files reside on samba shares,
they get an "access denied" message.
This "access denied" message refers to the whole share not only a file.
Samba Server version is 3.0.4 on Sparc Solaris 8 acting as AD Member
Server (W2K DC).
