Too many smb processes
I run samba ( ver 3.0.26a ) on a linux box ( Fedora 4 ) so that users from a
Windows 2003 domain can access those files on the linux box. I compiled the
samba and configured it with the command :
configure --with-ads
The /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf is :
--------------------------------------
[global]
domain master = no
local master = no

Sins of Solar Empire: crash
Hi all,
I guess I am getting annoying, but I am really experiencing some
problems with this game. I am trying to find the reason for these
slow-downs in the game (there are already reports about this in the
appdb). This time I managed to crash the game with this trace:

Joining Samba to ADS domain (win2k3)
Hello, I am having trouble joining Samba to my ADS domain. I am using Samba
3 and krb5. I have configured and tested krb5 and know that it is
functioning as it should be. I can successfully authenticate users using
kinit. I've also configured winbindd. When I exicute net ads joing -U <admin
username> and enter the proper password samba generates the following

Amanda oddity (amcheck)
I'm slowly getting everything back to normal here after swapping
motherboards on my server. I also took the opportunity to bring the
server up to CentOS 5. I'm still getting services working but I have
one oddity with amanda. Ever since I upgraded the server to CentOS 5,
amcheck dies and gives me a backtrace if there are no available tapes.

Segmentation fault/buffer overflow with fix() in Fedora Core 5 from Extras repository
The Fedora Extras update of R found its way onto my systems today and
I noted that fix() and edit() no longer work. There is a program crash
that closes up R, but it does not leave a core file. I've tested by
turning off SELinux, it had no effect.
Do you see it too? What do you think? It happens on both systems
I've tested. As far as I know, both of these systems are up-to-date.

Maildir: ACLs/Unix perms: unlink(...) failed: Permission denied
Hi,
I tried again with some other options.
After finding
http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2013-November/093793.html
I deleted every ACL from the directory Maildir and I also assigned the
group "mail" to it, recursively:

Decypher crash info
Winbind crashed on a machine this week, and it seemed to take anything PAM related with it. Had to do a reboot.
How do I read this crash dump that was written to winbindd.log, so I can make sure it doesn't happen again?

Rosetta Stone crashing
Hi all,
Just trying to get Rosetta Stone V.3 working in Ubuntu Feisty; it
installs fine, recognizes my language cd? and the lessons start.
There are two problems, however.
1) The augio hiccups at the beggining every time.
2) this is the big one; occasionally (and seems to be randomly)
everything freezes when audio is about to be played. wine gives this
in the terminal:
10000000-1000f000 r-xp

glibc detected *** /usr/lib64/R/bin/exec/R: double free or corruption ???? tm package
Hi,
I have a collection of .txt documents in my working folder for which I want to do some text mining. If I run TextDocCol from the tm package, R crashes with some memory issues. Does anyone has any idea if this is related to R itself or to the tm package?
Below you can find what is happening here.

Maildir: ACLs/Unix perms and unable to see content of specific mailbox
Dear Dovecot users, hello.
I will merge two issues I have into a single email because they may be
related.
I used dovecot on a OmniOS server since 2014 (currently OmniOS r151014)
with the following configuration (it shows 2.2.18 because I recently
updated dovecot, skipping only the PostgreSQL plugin):

Creating ZFS filesystem with inherited ACLs ?
Hi @all,
with ZFS its recommended to create a new filesystem, for example for each user to give them a home directory.
So far, so good. The homes should be under tank/export/home/staff and my intention is to restrict the ACL rights so only the user self can access his own home directory.
I study the ZFS Admin Guide and found the aclmode and aclinherit options, IMHO for my intention the

No ACL inheritance with aclmode=passthrough in onnv-134
Hi list,
while preparing for the changed ACL/mode_t mapping semantics coming
with onnv-147 [1], I discovered that in onnv-134 on my system ACLs are
not inherited when aclmode is set to passthrough for the filesystem.
This very much puzzles me. Example:
$ uname -a
SunOS os 5.11 snv_134 i86pc i386 i86pc
$ pwd
/Volumes/ACLs/dir1
$ zfs list | grep /Volumes

Crashes with Spandsp, app_rxfax.c, and asterisk 1.4.4
Hi everybody,
I have a Fedora Core 4 x86 32 bit install, which I recently
upgraded from asterisk 1.2 to the office 1.4.4 tarball.
In the process of doing that I had to upgrade some
autoconf/automake stuff, but it worked fine, and my new asterisk
works fine.
Except that anytime I receive a fax with spandsp and app_rxfax,
asterisk seg faults.
I have applied the spandsp
