Inheritable Permissions Issue
I have a Centos 3 server running Samba 3.0.28. It's a member of an AD
domain on a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 SP2 box. From the
W2K3 server I can see the samba share I created. Using the Security
tab in the Windows Explorer file properties dialog I can add and
remove users and change their permissions. However, in the
Permissions tab of the Advanced Security Settings dialog,

acl_tdb failed to convert file acl to posix permisions
We are using SAMBA 3.6.6 on Centos 5 with the acl_tdb VFS module. Our share is backed by storage on a SAN devices that does not support ACLs or extended attributes ... so we're trying the acl_tdb module as a mechanism to support Windows ACLs. We have verified that samba has ACL support enabled, and ACL support works find if we export the share from the local EXT4 filesystem.

Inheritance of ACLs with Samba
Hello dear list members
I am not an experienced user of Samba, so I can be committing some basic
mistake, but it seems to me that there is something wrong with the way
Samba propagates ACLs. I tried versions 3.0.32 and 3.2.4 and the result
is the same. This happens with "map acl inherit = yes" on smb.conf.
I have a directory (dir) with the following ACLs:

Dangling MS Access DB Lock Files *.ldb
I have an intermittent problem with dangling MS Access DB lock files.
In a productive environment with N batch queus (each on a separate
Windows XP Professional) a scheduler PC dispatches the work load to
a free queue by means of modifying a simple MS Access DB file
called "PRIM.mdb", which resides on a Samba 3.0.20 share. Each free
queue PC polls the same MS Access DB file every 60

A possible error in the way nmbd fails to respond to certain request packets
I have just speant several hours trying to nut out an error with a new
installation of SAMBA 3, and the results may indicate something has changed
with the way the Name Server (nmbd) responds to certain request. It could also
be network stack related, but I am about at my limit of skills to diagnose it
any further.
I have just installed Fedora Core 1 to a test server in order to play around

samba on ZFS
I don't believe that ZFS on FreeBSD supports acltype=posixacl and sa-based
xattrs.
For the record, the latest version of samba that I've been successfully
able to compile on FreeBSD 10.3 is Samba 4.5.5.

proxy: get rid of redundant log-informations
Hi
login_log_format_elements = user=<%u> method=%m rip=%r %k
is it possible to get rid of the "proxy(test at testserver.rhsoft.net): started proxying to 127.0.0.1:143: " part
because on a proxy-only server i know that and it is explicitly not listed in "login_log_format_elements"
as well as for the "TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-CAMELLIA256-SHA" it would be
