samba-2.2.2 and Linux 2.2.20 replacing Win2K?
Hi there, I was wondering if you could give me some pointers as to how to get rid of the spooge of microsoft from our office, and have samba-2.2.2 assuming file sharing duties (read this as the Boss isn't happy with all the win2K crashes on the NIC's) The machine is a Pent-III 850Mhz w/256MB, dual NIC's, and 2 HD's (IDE) with /dev/hda1 being where the OS is stored, and /dev/hdb1

File deletion problem with samba 2.2.8a and 3.0.0
Hi everybody, I'm having problems with a samba PDC (both 2.2.8a and 3.0.0). I have 2 shares (one of them is public - ie. world writable -, the other one is the homes shares). when I try to delete a file from any of those, the file is deleted properly by windows explorer, but it then pops up a message box with the message "cannot find the specified file". The same kind of error

[POSIX ACLs] Only ACE rules from Samba Primary Group are applied.
Hi, I've a samba 3.0.24 server running in a debian "alike" OS with a (Open)LDAP backend and I'm having the following problem: I have LDAP users that belong to more than one (POSIX) group. For instance, I have a user2 that belongs to group "users" and "grupo2" and I have a share with the following ACL settings: getfacl /home/shares/share1/ getfacl: Removing

Samba and Win2k: Printing from Outlook Express
Hi, we are operating the IT of a small non-profit organization with a Samba server (2.2.5) and roughly 15 Win2k workstations. Everything works fine so far but one single issue: Printing messages from Outlook Express: only the header of the mail is printed, no single line of the body. All the domain users are standard-users (I'm not sure about the correct English wording, may be someone

loss of group permissions on created Directories when using vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr
Hi All, I'm hoping you can help, I've recently built a Samba server on Ubuntu 16.04lts and bound it to our AD for security. This server was created to support a small number of Mac users who also authenticate via AD but still allow general Windows client access as well. The problem I have is the video editing software they require makes use of the 'vfs objects = catia fruit

struggling with simple webdav
Normally I use authzldap to authenticate LDAP users but in this case, I have a client that wants non-LDAP users to be able to use DAV. The twist is that there are several virtual hosts on this server and perhaps that is confusing things... anyway, my httpd.conf has... <Location /webdav> Dav On AllowOverride None Options Indexes FollowSymLinks AuthType Basic AuthName

Problems with samba and profile syncing from various windows versions
Thanks for pointing this out. I have read that again, now my profiles do not have "vfs objects = full_audit" and disabled the csc policy. I have verified that I have set up my profiles share properly and that it has all the right entitlements. I have reset the entitlements for the users that have issues (as Administrator right click on the folder and do the dance there with Windows).

File & Directory permissions
[The following is my understanding from doco and experiments - hosts Solaris 2.5.1 and Samba 1.9.18p3, client NT 4.0 - please re-use if wanted] Samba presents a DOS file permissions view to users. That is they can set the following attributes for files: Archive, Hidden and Readonly. As an ordinary user on NT 4.0 System attribute is not accessible. These attributes map as follows onto the

LDAP backend not mapping permissions properly and other problems
Sorry this is so long, but I think it is all relevant. I also have an output from pdbedit with log level 10 if needed. First, the latest problem I have noticed. When I create a new directory on the server, samba creates the files properly and gives them the proper permissions on the server, but when I look at the file security properties (Right click,Properties, Security Tab) I don't get the

Samba-4.10.4 strange behaviour
Hello All, I'm new to the list and I don't have much of experience with samba. I have a test setup on CentOS 7.8 with samba-4.10.4 and samba-vfs-glusterfs . When my client mounts the samba share via vers=1.0 , the user sees the share properly (uid, gid, mode are just like on gluster). When the share is mounted with vers=2.0 or not specified (anything higher) the files are owned by
