Migrate SMB/LDAP to new server
I need to migrate my current LDAP/SMB PDC to a new server. I found the information on how to replace an existing server with a new system with the same name, but in my case, I still need the existing system to continue as a slave LDAP/SMB BDC. I used slapcat to get the ldap database, and then used this ldif to create the new ldap database on the new server. Linux logins work fine. I used

migrate openldap to centos 7 server..
I hope this isnt terribly off-topic, but Im trying to migrate openldap from an old 32bit install
of gentoo linux to 64bit centos 7. Ive searched and found all kinds of info on migrating, but
none if it seems to work completely for me.
It seems that the newer centos 7 opendlap config doesnt use the slapd.conf file any more.
So It appears I need two ldif files. one for the config and one for the

I am trying to change the localSID for a SAMBA server, however I am unable
to. I have tried the command "net setlocalsid" to no avail. To troubleshoot
I have also stopped the smbd and nmbd services, but this did not help. Any

have Samba 3 or OpenLDAP installed. This installation passes all of the
initial kerberos, ldap and dns tests. The name was changed because this

Change the IP/name of the domain member server
Hi
I have two servers: old production and new to change the old one.
What is the right way to change to brand new server (with new Samba) in
a way transparent to end users?
Both (old and new one) servers are domain member servers. What I want to
achieve is to: leave the old servers name and IP but assign them to new
server.
I have done almost everything, so the new server has the data, the

I am obviously confused about something, and feel like I am chasing

Please help: Need help to upgrade Samba
Hi.
I used Samba 2.2.x on my server with LDAP backend. I also had linux users
in LDAP (pam_ldap). I had a separate tree for Samba and for linux users.
Because I had problems browsing the user lists when trying to set
permisions on a share on Win2k and WinXP members of domain and also for
other reasons (printer drivers,...) I started an upgrade process to Samba
3.0 .

OpenLDAP Problem
Everyone,
We currently are running a Centos3 directory server, I am currently
testing centos4 as an upgrade of this machine in the future. There is a
special user we have called cn=samba,ou=special in our directory, this
user is for samba to use when binding to the directory. On the
production replica server, i have taken an offline slapcat ldif of the
entire tree. I then copied this file to

needed to change the domain of the computers as I am migrating to other

ldap backend is from the old samba server which is different from the

Changing domain name
Hi,
For reasons best known to the IT admin before myself, we currently
have a domain name of WARLOCK. I want to change this. We have about
15 WinXP Pro client machines on the domain as well as a few linux
domain clients.
A bit of reading shows that it should be as simple as doing a net
getlocalsid, making the change, followed by a net setlocalsid.
I started doing this when I noticed something

Samba & SIDs
Hi all,
I need help to clear a bit of confusion regarding SIDs on Samba servers.
I had my PDC collapse on Thursday which wasn't too much of a problem as I had
everything backed up but I'm now in the position that I have a mismatched
Domain SID. If I run net getlocalsid I get the sid for the server (called
smb0) and net get local sid <domain> returns the sid for the Domain.
