Browsing a workgroup in another subnet
I'm trying to determine if the global configuration options for remote announce and remote browse sync work for browsing a different workgroup in a different subnet. In the books I have, it just talks about using these options to span the same workgroup across two subnets. In our situation, for example, I have two different workgroups (WG1 - 10.50.50.1 and WG2 - 10.100.50.1). Each of these

Unwanted Workgroup Names on WINS
Hello, There are many workgroup names on Microsoft Windows Network. Sometimes, users could wrong type the workgroups name on self computers, and creating new record on WINS server. I don't want showing the unwanted names to end users. Only two workgroups must be showed. Is it possible that I could clean unnecessary names? regards.

Blocking workgroup discovery
Hi all, At my work I`ve set up a VPN. When I connect to it, my colleagues see all the workgroups from my side of the VPN (I live on a campus with ~50 workgroups). Do you know how I block the workgroup discovery on through the VPN gateway? Is the broadcast done on a specific port? Is samba actively repeating the broadcast and their replies? Greetings Tjerk Jan

Tracking down rogue workgroup
Hi folks. Periodically a workgroup shows up on our network with an inappropriate name. We're trying to find the best way to track this down as it's quite intermittent. We can obviously look for announcement messages (in broadcast packets on ports 138/139), but this must be done on each subnet and we have enough subnets that this would be rather tedious and at best, a last resort. Browsing only works when in Samba workgroup
Hi, We have a central Samba server which works fine. It also supplies WINS services which work fine. It also builds a browse list which seems to work fine. However, when I open 'Entire Network' on my W95 desktop machine on another subnet, I only see the workgroups / hosts on my subnet. The 95 machine is pointing to the Samba server as a WINS server. If I change the workgroup of

"Duplicate workgroup names in browse list" problem reappeared in 3.0.5
Starting from version 3.0.2 (or .3?) there were a misfeature that caused workgroup names to show up as duplicates in workstations' browse lists. Fix for this didn't reach into 3.0.5-pre1, but rc1 had this fixed. Today I upgraded 3.0.5-rc1 to 3.0.5-2 (FC2 binary rpm from samba.org) and the problem reappeared. To be more spesific, the problem appears when there are more that one workgroup

Winpopup Broadcast? (smbclient -M to workgroup)?
Has anyone modified smbclient to send winpopup-style message broadcasts to Win95 workgroups/WinNT domains? If not, any tips on how I could go about doing it? What section of the SMB RFCs (1001, 1002, 1003) would be likely to talk about it? (I'm not sufficiently versed in low-level SMB, so most of the RFCs are still Greek to me. So if someone kindly points me in the right direction I think

SAMBA Workgroup/NT Domain question
Hi, I've configured SAMBA to be act asif it were a PDC for a network of UNIX and Windows 98 machines. The other UNIX machine also runs SAMBA, and has a machine trust account with the PDC, to act asif it is a domain member. The other machines are all Windows 98 PCs, which use the "PDC" SAMBA server as a logon server. The problem I have is with browsing. Because of the way SAMBA

Browsing from other workgroup problem
I think you need a DMB and LMB. Assuming you have no NT servers in your network, try these in [global]: domain master=yes preferred master=yes local master=yes os level=65 Note that if your other workgroups are on separate subnets, this gets trickier, involving WINS, etc. Steve Litt At 09:09 PM 02/16/2000 +1100, you wrote: >Hi all, >can anybody explain why win9x (or i think also NT) from

Domain & workgroup on separate subnets?
I've been fighting with this for a while, and I can't get it to work, so I'd like to know if it's even possible! I've got two subnets .3.x and .4.x which are routed via a dual-homed Linux box. The .3.x subnet is the main company network, and runs an domain BLUETREE. The two domain controllers are also WINS servers. All machines in this network are domain members. The .4.x

ADS Domain Member Workgroup vs Realm
I would say that workgroup = ZARTMAN should be right. Workgroups normally don't have dots in their name. Than you should also try: idmap config ZARTMAN:backend = ad idmap config ZARTMAN:schema_mode = rfc2307 idmap config ZARTMAN:range = 10000-99999 One more thing is that it's not recommended to have a .local domain realm. Have a look at this above glibc...

depending on the temperature, cstates might become unreachable or the maped voltage of a cstate changes. We want to adjust to that.
