Samba and AD: Still problem with conection
Hi, I have still problem with samba and AD. And I still know nothing :( Sometimes it works OK, but seldom. Generaly it can't get users from AD. System boots and wbinfo says that there is no users or that there is only 10 users (in AD I have about 1100). I think that this is problem with timeout, because sometimes it works OK. Sometimes linux reboot helps... And simetimes my dhcp on

on NMDS graphics
Hi, I have used Vegan to construct an NMDS ordination plot. I plotted sites of three forest types with the site number in it. My reviewer has asked me to use different symbols for each of the forest types. Can anyone send me how I can do this in R in simple steps. I have used the options like ordiplot, sel and pl syntaxes that are not working for the question that I asked for. Best, Sinu --

debian packages: krb5
Does anyone know where I can find the needed Debian packages for installing Kerberos 1.3.1? >From what I've been told I need these for ADS support in Samba. There are no backports for Kerberos 1.3 or higher. If anyone has any suggestions besides building from source, I'd like to hear them. Thanks, Brian

Samba 3.0.22 error with domain accounts
I have compiled Samba 3.0.22 on Solaris 10 (sparc.) It has been configured as a PDC with a domain of, say, "SAMBADOMAIN." It has some predefined group mappings for the Administrators and "Domain Admins" group. These mappings were dropped in later versions of Samba. (I have been working with 3.0.24 as well. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to play nice with

Fwd: getent group fails - fixed
Found it. It turns out that the config file for libnss-ldap is /etc/libnss-ldap.conf on my distro (Debian). So NSS was ignoring the config that I had been in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf and taking it from /etc/libnss-ldap.conf. The former had this "nss_base_group ou=Groups,dc=example,dc=co,dc=uk?sub" and the latter this nss_base_group ou=group,dc=example,dc=co,dc=uk?one. Once I edited group to

wbinfo -t fails but other wbinfo and getent items work.
Problem: wbinfo -t fails. As long as it fails, I am unable to map sids to Group Names. I need this functionality for my application. I can use just about everyother function of wbinfo at least partially... Distro: Debian woody. Packages: ii samba 3.0.11-0woody1 a LanManager-like file and printer server fo ii samba-common 3.0.11-0woody1 Samba common files used by both the server a

Hi, I am trying to configure a RHEL-4 server with SAMBA. We need the server to authenticate against our Windows AD servers. We have several trusted domains. I have been working with RedHat's support and so far they have not been able to resolve this issue. We can join the domain but we cannot map the shares from any pc (windows or linux) using a domain account (user or admin) It takes

samba 3 / AD / krb5_cc_get_principal failed
Hi all, I successfully joined my Samba 3.0.6 box to our AD tree. wbinfo -t and -u work as expected. But when I try to access a share on the samba box (Windows AD controller), I am asked for a password, Samba then logs [2004/09/06 11:49:28, 1] smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(173) Failed to verify incoming ticket! winbindd sometimes logs [2004/09/06 11:42:55, 1]

Configuration options used in compiling Debian Samba 3.0 packages
Sorry if this is more a Debian question than a Samba one. Are the Debian binary packages for Samba 3.0 on the Samba site compiled with active directory and kerberos support? Is there a general way to tell what options were used when compiling Debian packages? Gary Vetter ND Retirement and Investment Office 701 328-9879

inconsistency?
I am less than familiar with Microsoft, so I guess it might be an FAQ... if I click on "network neighborhood" which reveals a Samba server, it shows a list of all shares. If I click on a share, I get a message "cannot find share name". Somehow this does not sound logical to me... what is wrong?

web based index of samba share contents
Anyone know of a good opensource product to give google desktop like search functionality via web browser of a set of samba shares running on a Debian 5.x server. It needs to be able to fully index word, excel, openoffice and text files at a minimum. It should also have some form of ACL control so that only certain users can actually search the index for specific smb shares. In this

SSO across multiple physical subnets
Hi, I?ve been reading up on SSO-based logins for the last couple of weeks. I?ve found a lot of information about it, but nothing that matches my situation. Here?s the gist of my situation... - I have a Samba 3 PDC in our corporate office as well as three remote offices. - Each remote office is in a different physical building and connected to the Corporate office either via Point-to-Point T-1

security = ADS with libkrb53.
I've been trying to get samba to integrate with a Win2000 ADS, with very limited success.. but from recent postings I think I have found my problem. I am only using libkrb 1.2.4. I know I need 1.3.3, but don't particularly want to compile from source. I'm running a Debian Stable machine, so was wondering if anyone knows of where I can get a backport to woody of the newest Kerberos

cannot restart winbindd
Hi, I try to setup a Ubuntu 8.10 workstation to connect to an active directory on a Windows Server 2003. I follow the howto at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ac...ryWinbindHowto<https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ActiveDirectoryWinbindHowto> Unfortunately, winbindd stopped working after I configured smb.conf. smbd and nmbd are still running. I include smb.conf and log.winbindd hoping it
