Lots of "write_data: write failure in writing to client" and "Error writing 4 bytes to client. -1"
Last week we installed Samba 3.0.20b on one of our servers, worked fine and
does it's job well. But today the load was rising due two smbd processes
taking up all cputime. While looking for hints on what was going on the
logfiles show two types of errors (I don't know at this time if it has
anything to do with the load spike):
lib/util_sock.c:write_data(554)

Erratic local hostname resolution with Dnsmasq
Hi,
My local server is running CentOS 7. The machine has two NICs and is
acting as a gateway. For DHCP and DNS, I'm using Dnsmasq. I have a
strange little problem with local hostname resolution. Before going into
more details, here's my configuration.

[LLVMdev] Just got bitten by accidentally using the wrong gcc
Hi all,
I just forgot to ./configure with CC=gcc-4.2 CXX=g++-4.2, getting the
(broken-for-LLVM) gcc-4.1 as a compiler.
The error message that I got was this:
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/jo/llvm-wrk/lib/VMCore'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target
`/home/jo/llvm-wrk/Release/bin/tblgen', needed by
`/home/jo/llvm-wrk/lib/VMCore/Release/Intrinsics.gen.tmp'. Stop.

rsync -e ssh does not work well
Hi all,
I want to use ssh to protect my
traffic, no rsh or direct rsync.
But I have a problem here.
Of the texts already written, I could not yet
recall. Mostly they tell about success in using ssh
protocol.
I have made some progress by reading them, but
I cannot solve the current problem, if not possibly turning
to
port forwarding, that is also new to me, actually.
I have made two kind of

How to prevent batch rsync to write rsync_argvs files in the home directory
Hi,
Whenever i am using the command
rsync --write-batch -av --stats `cat $1` -e ssh user@remote machine:/destination/
This is writing rsync_argvs files in the home directory as well as to the destination directory.
Can anyone give me any idea as how to prevent the writing of rsync_argvs files in the home directory which is of no use.
Regards,
Surabhi.

[LLVMdev] Just got bitten by accidentally using the wrong gcc
llvm's ./configure already does that for gcc < 3.
What are valid versions? Exactly 4.0 and 4.2? 4.0 and >=4.2?
dnl Verify that GCC is version 3.0 or higher
if test "$GCC" = "yes"
then
AC_COMPILE_IFELSE([[#if !defined(__GNUC__) || __GNUC__ < 3
#error Unsupported GCC version

version])])

Empty folder deletion issue - Samba 4.15 thru 4.18
Encountering a strange one... has been occuring since samba 4.15.x and
continues to occur even in 4.17.5 and 4.18
Issue does not occur in earlier versions (4.13.x) and have switched back
and forth between versions to confirm.
Servers are winbind joined, PAM and krb5 auth, all seems to work fine
(reading, writing, creating, moving) until trying to delete an empty folder

StatusComplete is getting me sick !!
Hello Asterisk People.
Asterisk have a really annoying bug, i use frequently the manager status
command and when asterisk decide not to show the "statuscomplete" event,
it really don't show the "statuscomplete" string, in fact none of the

I use it for monitoring a queue, but this is really getting me

Degrees of freedom using Box.test()
After an RSiteSeach("Box.test") I found some discussion regarding the degrees
of freedom in the computation of the Ljung-Box test using Box.test(), but did
not find any posting about the proper degrees of freedom.
Box.test() uses "lag=number" as the degrees of freedom. However, I believe
the correct degrees of freedom should be "number-p-q" where p and q are

I am new - how to set client
Thanks Josephus for your advice.
That is the reason why I have joined this group...to learn.
I have never done anything with streaming, but we must start somewhere.
I do work with the web as a programmer.
As I mentioned before, I do have winamp 5 and I have the server running
I still do not know how to tie up winamp on my client machine to the
server machine.
Does some one have aworking copy
