Maildirs on AWS EFS
Hello,
AWS released one month ago a EFS system with administered life cycle,
which means that files not accessed in the last 30 days are moved to a
lower cost storage tier. Currently I hold my e-mail, delivered to
Maildir++ folders by postfix and retrieved with Dovecot, in standard EBS
volumes. This has the disadvantage that I need to allocate more than
enough space to ensure that the volume

EFS crypted files and smbclient.
Is there a way to get a NTFS encrypted file using smbclient (even not
decrypted) so It can be backed up using backuppc
(http://backuppc.sourceforge.net) ?
I have exported the NTFS keys in a pfx file. could it help copy the file?
the aim is that files must be crypted on laptops hard drive so if it is stolen
then no data is compromised. Having the file not crypted on the backup server
is not a

Windows 2K EFS interface in Samba?
Hi,
I like to figure out if there is a way for Samba to provide similar
functions in "encrypting" files base on window's client interface. Has
anyone done any study in this area?
Thanks

Encrypting File System (EFS) on share
Hello,
Looking to use Windows to encrypt contents redirected to folders on
a member server. It looks like I will need to designate the remote
server as trusted for delegation. Is this currently supported by Samba
4.3.x? I plan to follow these two documents to achieve this. Thanks.

Mount 2k3 hidden share
Hello everyone
Sorry, I know this has been asked before, but according to my searches, has
been answered in as many different ways, I have tried a couple of them and
failed:
Basics:
I can browse the share fine using konqueror (smb:/user@2k3server/statdata$)
I am using SuSE rpms - Version 3.0.11
I would like to mount a hidden share on a server 2003 machine. It denies me
access to the mount

Missing Files/Missing Folders from an NFS Share
By the way, there is nothing special about an AWS EFS share as far as I can
see. It is just basically an NFS share.
The answer some others were saying about Samba sharing the folder out from
the NFS server isn?t possible. In AWS there is no access to the server
behind EFS other than the NFS share itself. EFS has to be mounted as NFS.
No other protocols are supported (eg CIFS or AFS).
Anyway the

nfs, 64 / 32 bit, locking problem
Well, next problem.
Because of samba isn't running on alphaserver 1200 with gentoo linux and
kernel 2.6.9-ac12 i've simply exported my smbroot (on alpha, it is my
fileserver) and have samba running on an intel pentium4 box, also gentoo,
kernel 2.6.0-ac12. Seems to work, eccept some locking problems.

glusterfs expose iSCSI

I want to configure glusterfs to expose iSCSI target. I followed this

I setup on CentOS7 and installed tcmu-runner by rpm. When I run targetcli,

How can we horizontally scale Dovecot across multiple servers?
Hi,
How can we horizontally scale Dovecot across multiple servers? Do we require
to install independent instances of Dovecot on each server?
We are planning to use a NAS/SAN device using ZFS or EFS for email storage.
Each logical unit will be of 10TB and similarly as the no: of user increases
we are planning to add multiple 10TB units.
In this case how we can manage the email storage on

Hi GiangCoi,
The Good news is that now we have gluster-block [1] which will help
you configure block storage using gluster very easy.
gluster-block will take care of all the targetcli and tcmu-runner
configuration for you, all you need as a pre-requisite is a gluster
volume.
And the sad part is

Missing Files/Missing Folders from an NFS Share
I think it has a lot to do with telldir on an NFS share returning a cookie
that is supposed to be unique rather than an actual offset. Problem is,
that cookie is stored as a 31bit hash which can then end up as a negative
signed offset in Samba which is not handled correctly. The cookies are not
necessarily consecutive as you move through a directory.

Are file system mounts costly?
I recall a kernel parameter on Unix System V of number
of mounted file systems. Max recommended was 8.
Larger numbers slowed down inode location and
impacted performance.
Has Linux solved that bottleneck? Are 20 or 30 mounted
efs and cifs file systems on one system OK?

Director DNS
Hello,
I am currently running 2.2.31. I have a cluster of dovecot instances
running in AWS.
- Two instances running Director/Proxy
- Two instances running Dovecot.
-- Storage for the Dovecot instances is EFS.
My setup works, requests for 143 hit my Director cluster and are proxied to
an appropriate dovecot backend.
My question is how often if at all the Director service looks up the
addresses
