Samba ADS member: using local groups
Hi. I have problems using local groups on a SAMBA ADS member. I encountered the problem when I switched from Fedora Core 4 to Fedora Core 5. I'm using the FC5 samba-3.0.22-1.fc5 package. The SELinux is set to permissive mode (SELINUX=permissive), so this should not cause problems. I'm using same scripts for generating group mapping and add users to groups, as I used on FC4. The

AD bind DNS broken after 4.7.3 -> 4.9.2 upgrade
Hi, I have been running a Samba AD PDC with BIND9_DLZ on a Debian system for a year now without problems, and in the hope for ability to create AD backups I upgraded the samba packages (along with other packages with minor updates). Everything seemed OK during the upgrade, all processes restarted, but soon after I found that PAM refuses to authenticate AD usernames. By checking the samba

Hello, Thank you Rowland, Yes, I wanted to anonymize smb.conf and missed to change IPGAD in MYAD on some lines, sorry Does "winbind nss info = rfc2307" is not used anymore, because of "idmap config ipgad : schema_mode = rfc2307" ? Sorry about my pretty stupid question :-( I should have been dug a bit deeper... And I actually discoverer the -U parameter shortly after sending the mail to the list. samba_dnsupdate?
Now for the next question. I think (hope?) that I am quite close now. In order to add a machine to the domain, I think that I need to add a record to samba's DNS table. But samba_dnsupdate isn't working: # samba_dnsupdate -d 5 INFO: Current debug levels: all: 5 tdb: 5 printdrivers: 5 lanman: 5 smb: 5 rpc_parse: 5 rpc_srv: 5 rpc_cli: 5 passdb: 5

key managment roadmap
Hi all, I'm new to this list so I don't know if this topic was recently discussed. Here in Rome with other friends of mine we extensively used tinc-vpn as backend layer of our network, now we need a clever key management of the keys to meet our goals. Now ZioProto (that Guus meet at FOSDEM) says to me that something is going to be developed in this area, so I like to know what kind of

Simple configuration and not working.
First, i'm sorry to be so silly that i don't even to success a basic samba configuration simply working. Compilation of the rc2 had no errors. testparm against my smb.conf said ok, and i can start nmbd and smbd. I also add a new unix user, said toto, and added it in samba. The problem is that i can't connect to any share, via Windows or via GNU/Linux. The result from Windows is a new
