permission/acl troubles
Hi list, Since I've upgraded from samba 3.0.23c to 3.0.25c my ACL's don't work as expected anymore. I'm not sure where the problem is, however. The symptoms are simple: with 3.0.23c, I could grant and revoke user, group and world write access to and from files in a share. With 3.0.25c, I can't do that anymore. When I deselect group or world read access and apply the

Change in smbclient between 3.0.24 and 3.0.25c breaks third party app
Hello list, A change in smbclient between 3.0.24 and 3.0.25c breaks [1] the gollem filemanager [2] and maybe others. In particular folder creation is broken unless the folder is a top level folder on the share. To create a subfolder "level2" in the folder /level1 of a share gollem executes this command: /usr/bin/smbclient "//1.2.3.4/sharename" "-p139"

This is the latest production release of the Samba 3.0.25 code base and is the version that servers should be run for for all current bug fixes. Major bug fixes included in Samba 3.0.25c are: o File sharing with Widows 9x clients. o Winbind running out of file descriptors due to stalled

Samba 3.0.25c Going Nuts on our Network???
POSTED TO THE LIST W/O ATTACHMENTS -------- Jerry, I am sending this to you directly because it contains the tcpdump information in addition to the samba logs just in case there is sensitive information contained in the files. What is happening is that samba 3.0.25c, after first running smoothly, is becoming very "chatty" across our LAN. I don't know why, but with no files or

Hi all, I had been running a Samba pdc using the standard tdbsam backend on CentOS 4.5 supporting 20+ WinXPsp2 workstations and a Win2k3 Terminal Server. This set up was running fine for arroung 18 months maybe more. The above system was built on ageing hardware that used to be a Win 2k server that died from OS corruption. Due to the expanding client needs there was good reason to replace

Samba 3.0.25c and Samba 3.0.26a on AIX 5.3 - Windows Service Accounts & smbclient issues...
Just the beginning of a question to anyone who might have experienced the following issue with Samba 3.0.2[5-6] series. We currently have service accounts accessing Samba shares on AIX 5.3 servers ( from TL04 - TL06 ). Most of the processes access the shares via UNC rather than mapped drives. After completing the upgrade to Samba 3.0.26a on the production side, the service accounts started

How to - Samba, winbind and Active Directory
Hi, I finally was able to to get samba/winbind to authenticate off W2k3 Active Directory. I seen a lot of info on the web on how to do this but I never seem to have one site that got me through it all. Anyway, with all the info I gathered I was able to put it all together, get it working and documented all the steps I used. I'm running Redhat 4 (2.6.9-55.0.2) with compiled Samba 3.0.25c

'dns update' compile error on gentoo
Hello, Gentoo linux has just recently released samba 3.0.25c in portage. I tried upgrading to it and it worked by default but the dns update feature was not enabled. When I tried to add that option to the ebuild script and then install samba, the process errors out when trying to compile the dns portion. I have tried reporting it to the gentoo developers but they won't support my
