Having problems with SSL and Apache on CentOS
I had a RH7.3 box that provided some web services, but the hard drive
recently started to throw errors. So I got another drive and built a
new system using CentOS4. Unfortunately, there is no one to one as far
as Apache since COS4 uses Apache 2 and there is a dramatic difference
in the way the config files are done. I have managed to get it to
recognize the directory on my other drive after

I think you should first prevent this to happen.

Trying to diagnose incomplete file transfer
I second Francis here. You don't need to diagnose incomplete file transfers as long as you have racing conditions as you described. This leads to strange result inevitably.
NEVER start several rsync jobs manipulating the same data - especially if there are modifications to BOTH sides source and destination.
You do not necessarily define a service like Francis suggests. A simple semaphore

"hosts allow" not working?
Wwe are doing some testing in preparation for our migration from Samba 3.6
to Samba 4.x. Because we must share networks with other groups, we want
to use the "hosts allow" parameter in smb.conf to restrict who can connect
to our Samba domain. This works great in 3.6. I'm unable to get it to
work with 4.1.16. That is, I'm unable to join a Windows 7 PC to the Samba

Trying to diagnose incomplete file transfer
At $work I have an odd situation involving incomplete file transfers,
but I am unsure where the issue may be occurring. Here is the scenario.
Problem:
Sometimes the file transfer seems to have completed, but the file size
does not match that on the remote system.
Details:
I transfer a number of large (>1GB) Tar-Gzipped (.tgz) files via SSH
tunnels from $customer. Because of some previous

samba-tool SIGSEGV
Hi,
Not sure if I should post in samba-technical or just samba list. Please advise.
Back in February I was trying to do a samba-tool classicupgrade but kept getting SIGSEGV:
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2017-February/206409.html
I didn't progress much after that.
This week I've compiled samba-4.6.5 and installed that. Following the HOW-TO for classic upgrade

Boot hangs at Initializing hardware...
Anyone else having problems with 4.2 with the boot hanging at
Initializing hardware... storage network
?
Booting to single user or typing 'I' for interactive startup does not
help. Not a timeout problem - hangs 'forever' - days at least. Did a
complete reinstall and rebooted OK, did updates and the boot started
hanging again. Same problem with either the 4.2 standard

default backend = rid not showing full group information for users
Am I wrong to expect that id user and getent group should list me the
groups the user is part of.
For example wbinfo --group-info=office shows me that user jdoe and lgaga
are part of the group, but then when doing id jdoe or id lgaga the
office group is not shown, neither in getent group.
What should I change in my config to have full group information working?

What could cause rsync to kill ssh?
Maurice,
You say, "knocking my ssh session offline on all terminals and it blocks
ssh from being able to connect again. Even restarting sshd doesn't help".
Questions:
* Is the network stack on the affected machine still active? (Can it
reach other services or systems on the network?)
* If the network is NOT reachable, does restarting the network stack
make a difference?
I ask

default backend = rid not showing full group information for users
Hello everybody,
I am trying to use the backend = rid but it is not showing me group
information of the users after adding the user to the domain groups...
What should I do to have the full group info for the users available?

Other video modes besides 640x480
I've written the code to switch to the largest available video mode.
As is, it is probably not very useful (because the font is probably
barely legible on a 150dpi display and because I've not modified the
background loading code).
Would it be interesting to develop it further or would it be considered
overbloat ?
If yes, I have the problem of choosing the

Besides the ISDN Guard what options?
Does anyone know of an American made option like the ISDN Guard?
I'm looking for something that will listen for a heartbeat from
Asterisk and if it fails, flip the PRIs over to a backup box.
