Default User in netlogon share won't work
Hi Samba List Users, I have a "Default User" folder directly in the [netlogon] share, and for some reason new users who don't already have a profile (such as when they logon for the first time) refuse to download it and use it as their baseline profile. Instead, they fall back on the "Default User" folder on the local machine, or they just can't log on and

adding printers from netlogon script
I don't know the final answer BUT if you have something simmilar to a cyber-cafe LAN (I mean, users use all the computers, and maybe some users come back to login with the same name) then you have to install a printer only once in a computer, loging as the administrator and installing drivers. Then what users will have to do is JUST add the printer without installing. I know that it's

Windows 7 v. Samba: why is default network profile in 'NETLOGON/Default User.v2' not used?
Setup: - Samba 3.5.6 (Debian Stable release, amd64); - Testing Windows 7 client behaviour, specifically with regard to users who don't yet have profiles. The Windows docs state that a domain logon for a new user will cause the default network profile to be used if available, if not then a default local profile is used instead. The location for the default network profile is

%LOGONSERVER% variable in netlogon/Default User folder redirection
Hi, (This is taken form here : http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#redirfold ) I'm using folder redirection so I have a NTUSER.DAT file in the "netlogon" directory on the logon server (the primary domain controler), which I edited with regedit to set up some folders so that they point to the logon server by using the %LOGONSERVER% variable, and it seems it

Multiple Default Users in \\%L\netlogon
Hallo! I am running samba version 3.01012 on a fc2 server. My network has win 2000 clients. I have by default deleted the local Default User on the clients, and instead put the Default User in \\%L\netlogon. This works nice. However, there are different branches at the school where I am running the network, and I would like machines to get a Default User profile which is specially designed for

Joining Domain Problem only with XP SP2
I've having trouble getting XP SP2's to join a domain. Whenever I try to join, at the point I'm asked for a user name and password with permission to join the domain, I enter root and root's password, then get the dreaded "Unknown user or bad password" error message. The clients are a mixed bunch with some 98's, 1 Win2K, a few XP SP1 (I know, I know!, but

Lingering WinXP SP2 issues
After apparently flawed testing, we rolled out SP2 for XP this week as samba seemed to be able to handle printing acceptably in recent versions. Once we rolled it out, we started getting reports of many users receiving the error :A policy is in effect on your computer which prevents you from connecting to this print queue. Please contact your system administrator." on a select few

samba 3.0.22 default ACL issue
Hi, I use samba 3.0.22 as PDC on Debian with workstations under windows XP SP1 and SP2. I use ACLs to have a fine grained access rules. When I copy a directory from a client to a samba share, default ACLs are forgiven. exemple : after I copy the directory A on the samba share : getfacl A/ # file: A/ # owner: user1 # group: sambausers user::rwx group::--- other::--- default:user::rwx

domain logon
Hello, I have changed the domain on my Win2k machine from a samba 2.2.1a to a 2.2.7 machine. Adding the machine to the new domain went fine and access to shares are ok. With SP1 installed I get the error : Unable to login : netlogon service is not running allthough I can connect to the netlogon share. After I installed SP2, this message goes away but I get a check username/password complaint
