SPA (NTLM) Authentication
Hello
I have just spent a happy day (!) configuring Exim4 to accept
authenticated connections from full blown Outlook clients. That works.
Unfortunately, by ticking the "Use SPA" box in Outlook it now demands
SPA on the POP3 server as well.
The existing POP3 server doesn't support this style of authentication.
I believe Dovecot will. We're already using it as an IMAP

Bridge mode support
Hi,
I''m wondering how Shorewall will behave if I want to use it on a
router with some if its interfaces in a bridge, and some not in a
bridge. For instance, eth0 and eth1 bridged as br0 and eth2 as a stand
alone interface.

ZyXEL 2000w In Call Menu/Hold configs
Hi Everyone,
After a fair amount of faffing ive managed to get the 2000w working with
asterisk for IP -> PSTN calls (i.e. get the phone to make and receive calls
over our BT line). The final solution is to set up outgoing VoIP calls but
I now know that without a SIP aware router I can think again! (damn you
iptables!)
In the mean time I'm trying to figure out why I can't get the

Can't build with PAM support
I'm having trouble getting dovecot to compile with PAM support.
Output from the configure command says its checking for pam_start in
-lpam .... no.
I've checked, there is a pam_start in there.
So how can I force configure to see what its looking for? I've tried
the --with-pam switch and that doesn't work.
I'm trying to build the latest RC7 on a Debian Sarge box.

MIT Kerberos and OpenSSH
Howdie,
Is there a way to get the default BSD 5.3 openssh to compile against
the MIT kerberos libraries? I have set NO_KERBEROS=yes in /etc/make.conf so
that the heimdal kerberos is not built, and rebuilt world, then installed
/usr/ports/security/krb5 and rebuilt world again. sshd is however not being
built against MIT at all.

lme RE variance computation
As I understand it lme (in R v1.9.x) estimates random effect variances
on a log scale, constraining them to be positive. Whilst this seems
sensible, it does lead to apparently biased estimates if the variance is
actually zero - which makes our simulation results look strange. Whilst
we need to think a bit deeper about it - I still haven't got my head
around what a negative variance could

The pc column is populated with list of postcodes, and I want to execute R command that can get me the lat and lon for the every item in the pc column and populate the respective lat and lon columns.
Is there any package that could be used?
Any help will be really appreciated.

[FORGED] Generating random data with non-linear correlation between two variables
No its not. I am doing all these experiments for my own learning purpose. I am Oracle SQL & PLSQL programmer and I can do these things with Oracle analytical functions.
However at present I am keen to learn R, with no other interest right now.
Thanks

Generating random data with non-linear correlation between two variables
Hi All,
I am new to R and don't know how to achieve it.
I am interested in generating a hypothetical dataframe that is consisted of say two variables named v1 and v2, based on the following constraints:
1. The range of v1 is 500-1500.
2. The mean of v1 is say 1100
3. The range of v2 is 300-950.
4. The mean of v2 is say 400
5. There exists a positive trend between these two variables, meaning

cpu type
I have a quick question.
The board and CPU that I'm using in one of my machines was given
to me. I didn't take the time to look up the info on the board or
anything. I was busy, so I just put the board in a pc case, hooked
everything up, and loaded the os on the machine.
I didn't know it at the time, but there's a chance it may be a
64bit board and cpu. I don't

HOSTS File Mac Addresses
I have a housing complex with Internet access, and I need to assign
certain hosts to a certain zone.
I don''t necessarily want to use IP addresses in the HOSTS file because
they are all DHCP.
Is it possible to assign a host via MAC Address in the
/etc/shorewall/hosts file?
Ex: virus eth1:~00-00-00-00-00-00
instead of
virus eth1:192.168.1.56

I'm not sure what do you mean by "wireless nat network". Isn't the point
of NAT that it is independent of device that the traffic goes out from?

R: determinants and inverses
hello all
sorry for the following "none" R related question.
does anyone know of a reference to calculate the following identity:
|I + ABC|
where I is an identity matrix and A, B,C may not have to be square matrices?
you help will be greatly appreciated.

Logwatch reporting spamassassin messages as unmatched entries
I've recently switched to using spamassassin via a sendmail milter,
rather than using procmail to invoke it. This means that I get a number
of messages appearing in my maillog, and then being reported by logwatch
as unmatched entries.
An example of such a messages is:

File locking problems - v2.2.6
Hi,
I have been going crazy over the last few weeks trying to install a new
Samba server (using v2.2.1, v2.2.5 and v2.2.6) to replace a old system.
Problem seems to be with file locking on the new server - works
perfectly on old server!!
Attached are configuration files for Samba for old (smb205.conf) and new
(smb226.conf) servers, plus the source of a Cobol test program
(samtest.cbl) that
