The network is invisible!
I've installed Samba on a SuSE 10.2 machine, and the machine is visible to the other machines in the network (a Windows 98 desktop, a SuSE 10.0 desktop and a SuSE 10.1 laptop). So far so good. So can anybody explain why my network is not visible from this machine? The obvious suspect is the firewall, but shutting that down doesn't improve the situation one bit. Any ideas? -- All the

Audio flutter on OH323 output?
Hi, I'm using OH323, mostly with success, to interface Asterisk to a provider's switch (World Telecom INX). I have noticed a particular effect, and I wonder whether anyone else has seen the same? The effect is audio flutter (almost like the flutter one gets on MF or HF radio sometimes) which only happens intermittently. Audio coming into Asterisk is unaffected, as proved by using the

Samba / Networking trouble since latest windows update
This is not really a Samba problem, but it does relate to Samba, in a fashion... In regards to: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/?url=/technet/security/bulleti n/MS04-004.asp Since the latest security patch from Microsoft (last Thursday?) was applied to common desktop machines within our school we have been suffering from problems with network connections. We run several Mac OS X

Checksum errors on and after resilver
Hi all, I recently experienced a disk failure on my home server and observed checksum errors while resilvering the pool and on the first scrub after the resilver had completed. Now everything seems fine but I''m posting this to get help with calming my nerves and detect any possible future faults. Lets start with some specs. Off center graphics in World of Warcraft.
Hello all, I just installed the new Wine 9.23 on my Ubunut 6.06 LTS. I was able to get WoW to run with no problem except that the graphics on the screen apper to be moved down by a quarter of my screen, leaving a blank area at the top. As far a I can tell the games graphics are perfect, except for the posistion of the graphics. This only happens in WoW, Ubuntu's desktop and programs are

[PATCH] fix XSA-46 regression with xend/xm
The hypervisor side changes for XSA-46 require the tool stack to now always map the guest pIRQ before granting access permission to the underlying host IRQ (GSI). This in particular requires that pciif.py no longer can skip this step (assuming qemu would do it) for HVM guests. This in turn exposes, however, an inconsistency between xend and qemu: The former wants to always establish 1:1 mappings

postfix and mail origin checks
hi, Whats the 'robust' way to make sure email to a specific destination is only accepted if it came over the localhost:25 or /usr/sbin/sendmail route ? anything else should get a 5xx error. Emails to other destinations should remain unaffected. Using postfix/c4. Had a look around, and header_checks might be one way to go. -- Karanbir Singh : http://www.karan.org/ : 2522219 at icq

[PATCH] MSVC2015U2 workaround, version 2
Here's a new version of a patch that fixes a problem with MSVC2105 update2, but it doesn't disable any optimization, so the resulting encoding performance should be almost unaffected by this workaround. MSVC compiles abs_residual_partition_sums[partition] = (FLAC__uint32)_mm_cvtsi128_si32(mm_sum); into this: movq QWORD PTR [rsi], xmm2 while it should be movd

How to read contents of a text file into a single string?
... Both readLines() and scan() produce a number_of_lines x 1 vector; trying paste(s, collapse = NULL) leaves it unaffected. How can I concatenate vector elements (lines) into a single string? Thank you. -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/How-to-read-contents-of-a-text-file-into-a-single-string-tp2069303p2069303.html Sent from the R help mailing list archive at

.ps files in R
I have recently "printed" in R to a postscript file. I'm working on a SSH without an X terminal. It was fairly automatic: > plot(x,y) > dev.off() And then the default creates a file called Rplots.ps which I can ftp to my laptop and open in Ghostscript. I can see the file, and nothing looks odd. However, when I import it into LaTeX, it refuses to configure right side up.

OpenSolaris 2008.11 - resilver still restarting
Just look at this. I thought all the restarting resilver bugs were fixed, but it looks like something odd is still happening at the start: Status immediately after starting resilver: # zpool status pool: rc-pool state: DEGRADED status: One or more devices has experienced an unrecoverable error. An attempt was made to correct the error. Applications are unaffected. action: Determine

package 'stats' needs import directive for 1.9.0?
I maintain the Irregular Time Series (its) package on CRAN. I am currently testing a release. Under 1.8.1 I am able to define a S4 generic 'start' as follows: if(!isGeneric("start")) {setGeneric("start", useAsDefault=start)} Under 1.9.0, Rcmd check generates an error, as 'start' is not recognised. If I use the NAMESPACE directive IMPORT, all is well:

Conditional analysis before inliner
Hi, I have pass phase ordering question. I am interested in performing a transformation that matches several LLVM IR instructions and converts them to a single builtin. This sort of transformation must occur prior to inlining because inlining needs to analyze cost of the builtin. However, the LLVM IR -> builtin transformation requires scalar evolution which typically doesn't run until

Which objects does dynamic_ownership apply to?
Hi, I'm playing with dynamic ownership and not all objects have their owners changed. Is dynamic_ownership and its scope documented somewhere, besides the comment in qemu.conf? And what kinds of objects are handled by dynamic ownership? While some objects seem to be handled, other objects are apparently unaffected. For instance /dev/hwrng or a USB host device keep their root owners and are

Problem with v1.1.10
I've been using 1.1.8 successfully but tried out 1.1.10 this morning. I have a combination of system and virtual users. The system users were unaffected by the change, but the virtual users all lost access to their mail because their home directories, as interpreted by dovecot, moved from user at domain to user at user@domain. The location of the home directory is given to dovecot for

I can no longer use TLS for Windows7 and Outlook
I currently use Ubuntu 20.04 with Dovecot 2.3.7.2 and OpenSSL 1.1.1f. A few months ago there was an update to all these systems and since then I've had to talk W7 and old Mac clients through disabling ports 993/995 with TLS enabled back to ports 143/110 without SSL or they could not pick up email. Thunderbird users (ie; me) were unaffected. Could anyone share a set of port 993/995 SSL

Function for Data Frame
Dear R Helpers, I have about 20 data frames that I need to do a series of data scrubbing steps to. I have the list of data frames in a list so that I can use lapply. I am trying to build a function that will do the data scrubbing that I need. However, I am new to functions and there is something fundamental that I am not understanding. I use the return function at the end of the function and

Connected client unaffected by group/user/share change
I am trying to solve what I perceive as undesirable behavior of my Samba server. Please understand I am not claiming this is a bug in Samba. It is simply different from the behavior I want, and I'm asking for help in modifying the behavior. My Samba server is version 3.5.4 (release 68.el6) and runs under CentOS 6.0 (x86_64). I happen to use Active Directory (AD) to authenticate, but am not
