[fdo] Integration of network-softwares like samba, nfs and sftp with the desktop
Hi there,
I would like to enable the desktop user to create shared folders, for
example using protocols like Samba, nfs and sftp.
For the user to make this possible, the user needs (on a Linux machine
configured with the defaults of most current Linux distributions) root
privileges.
However. In a desktop environment, in my humble opinion the possibility

[fdo] Scheduling subsystems (crontab, at) and the desktop
Hi there fellow hackers, geeks and others who want the UNIX desktop to
succeed.
I bring forward the question whether or not a (freedesktop.org)
specification is necessary for application scheduling software.
The current UNIX Desktop user does not have an easy way to configure the
tasks which he wants to schedule. Sure we have such a utility. And sure

Just mbox fixes since 1.0-test16. The logic is simpler and more correct
now. Can anyone break it anymore? I actually tested it a while with
Evolution and several mailboxes and it didn't break at least
immediately. :)
Now maybe a few more days and I dare trying this thing myself with my
real mboxes (yes, I'm still using them).

Broken samba
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Samba on my linux machine, running openSUSE 11.1 and KDE

Windows XP.
The following makes me think my samba installation is seriously broken, but I
don't where to start looking to fix it...

Términos cronobiológicos (Fuera de tema, disculpadme)
Hola a tod@s:
Tengo una duda que no es relativa a R en sentido estricto, aunque sí al fin para cuya persecución he necesitado utilizar R.
Veréis: me gustaría averiguar la diferencia (si existe) entre los términos Cronobiometría y Ritmometría. ¿Alguien lo sabe o puede indicarme alguna lista de correo o referencia bibliográfica que me sirva de apoyo?. La única referencia que encontré es ésta:

Timestamping in log file?
Hi,
I''m wondering if it''s easy to add timestamps to the mongrel log? I am
having a problem where an externally spawned application by Rails is
failing. Mongrel kindly logs the error message returned by this
application when it fails. But it doesn''t record a timestamp as to when
the error occurs, which makes it a little tricky to sync this up to my
webserver logs to

Edit the file called src/EDITME and put the result in a file called
Local/Makefile.
Then you may proceed ... and next time ... you post an error message you
may want to be specific ... not "or something like that" ...

Is there another way of doing the bindings so that the Windows share doesn't run on TCP/IP but will still work with SAMBA? If so, where in the docs should I be looking, and if not - maybe this should be something discussed by the SAMBA dev people..
Regards,
Marc.
